Anyone have experience in any of these departments. Just last week I was hurt at work. I have a hernia now and my boss wants me to go on disability and workmen comp. Do I have to take a piss test for theses? I already stopped smoking three days ago just in case.

Also anyone here ever have a hernia. It sucks. You get the surgery?

I have experience with work comp and it ain't pleasant! They will do anything in their power to fuck you over. I wouldn't be surprised if they test you.

I have had two hernia's and you will be up and moving in about 3 days, just relax for the first two and let your incision start to heal. I tell you what the first pee you take after the procedure is going to be the best feeling piss you ever pissed. I would not reccomend smoking a lot as you will already be really groggy from the ansthesia.

Shits got me down. Don't like the idea of going under the knife.
Don't let it get ya down. Not shit you can do about it anyways. I can sympathize. I've had like 14 surgeries on my back. It sucks. I'm sorry to hear about your injury. I hope it all works out for you.

...I have also had two...but there are different kinds...my 1st one was a 4 to 6 week recovery, but I was laying brick and block at the time so my recovery time would of been shorter if I was not lifting heavy shit...that surgery was hell, and I've been through some pretty fucked up shit...I was in bed for a week dude...and now my left nut hangs down to my knee...lol
but my other one(hernia) was nothing...I think I still have it
...workmans comp will almost always test you when you leave a job injured and go for imediate treatment...but if you haven't been tested yet then it is up to your employer...I fell 60 feet in 2005 and went through 4 years of lawyers...MIOSCA meetings...depositions...and a major lawsuit. The insurance company that is provided by workmans comp is all paid by your employer...and they usually follow those employee guidlines....so if you get tested at work then they may request something...but they can not go back now and try to say you were under the influence at the time of the injury if they did not test you then...it would be your Employer that would have to stir shit up...not workmans comp...as far as the test goes...as far as everything else goes with workmans comp.( pay, coverage..etc)...idk...with me they were fucking great, but if you look at my pics under "my broken leg" in toke and talk you'll see why...lol

good luck to ya...hope everthing goes smooth

Hello fellow RIU member, I say go on the disability. You pay for it in all your paychecks, that's what it's there for.

Back in March this year I hurt my back at work and now I have 3 herniated discs in my lower back. I became a legal patient in California because I was tired of the worker's comp. doctor throwing me pills every 2 weeks.

Just to give you a heads up, the worker's comp. insurance companies SUCK! My claims adjuster told me over the phone that she doesn't care about my pain. They are all in it for the money. I had to hire a attorney and I've been told it's going to take up to a year for me to settle. You back is very important, trust me.

I've been to the doctors office at least 2 times a month since March...never got tested.
