Dirtysnowball's LST

heres my baby 10 days ago!

@106 days, 100% under the sun. by the look of the leaves shes a hybrid, leaning towards the sativa side. shes gonna be my quarter-pounder.
40" wide, 36" long/tall(from dirt to main tip), branches average height from floor is17"

Its the fastest plant i've ever grown by far!!! and it came from some random weed along with an insane male(probably had the same parents). originally I thought it was a male for sure cuz it was growing at an alarming rate. lucky me i get to cross and refine these two monsters!!! ​

so the basic theory behind lst is to get the main stem lower then the rest of the branches, and to expose the lower branches to light... this makes the hormones(auxins??) go from the main top, to the lower branches instead. LST creates even growth, with many average size nugs vs one big cola. this is my ghetto cost free way. tell me what you think. +rep

i would try this.. with my cloned plant i bought from the club.. will it work if i plant it in a 5 gallon bucket? and what shall i do with the lighting . when's the best part to put it in the sun and when do i put it in the shade

Call me a bonehead but I don't understand what's going on. Look's like you are growing with the pot on it's side? If so, why?

Yeah, ya can't always find info on all the styles, methods, etc. when you want it. I know I can't.

LST=low stress training. It's taking your plant and tying it down to expose more of the main stem and branches. By doing it, it helps what would normally be small popcorn buds grow more robust.

Ok I am familiar with LST. I use a roll of twist tie. I don't lay my pots on their sides. That's what I'm asking about.

Edit: i guess his pot is on its side. Its probably just an easier way to train such a massive plant, to tie the main stem on that would have been near impossible so instead he just layed the pot over so it woud naturally begin to train itself. My guess is that the farthest budsite from the pot is actually the original main cola, which would have been the tallest cola, but it is now horizontal instead of vertical, which makes it the longest cola not the tallest, and he has been tying it down in that direction away from the pot.

That thing must be impossible to move dude! And how do you water it?

Very great idea! Wouldnt mind trying, but the leafs that are faced on the ground will die off? Since they wont get any light? Even if you rotate one side of the plant will have its face in the deck! How do you get around this brother and again very very smart idea.

some of the leaves that face the deck may get burned by the surface, but its surprisingly only a few. the plant starts pushing those bottom facing branches out at a horizontal level, it looks like pumpkin vines crawling out from under the bush

Really sorry for the huge pictures, first time uploading. I did a strange version of LST after my horse ate the top of several plants in July. Used weights an orchardist friend used to espallier (sp ?) saplings. This Lavender has the most mature buds, but I did the same to other plants and all have lots of buds on the lateral stem reaching for the sun.

With this size weight, did "live and learn" and broke several limbs, most fixable. Next year I'll cast my own about half the size and start using them much earlier. All this was totally unplanned!

Intresting how this is gonna turn out. I am experimenting with different ways of lsting in my mini grow. Always good to think outside the box.

So when u water do u set it back up right or what?

We should work together to come up with the ultimate way to grow. I can see yours going well with mine. (see "cranking" under my sig)

hell yea!! maaaan i wish i had a camera back then! i grew 3 plants just like that by gradually tying them to the ground off the side of my deck. the result was 3 plants growing vertically towards the ground with each branch off the stem and the cola doing a U with stem towards the light.
i usually tie my plants down horizontally for more light but i totally encourage people to go beyond 90 deg.

You can stand it up and do a vertical grow how did you keep the dirt in? this would work great if you did a vertical scrog doing the veg. out side then moving in doors to keep the plant count down
