So im debating about wether or not to switch from my magnetic ballast to a lumatek digital. Im not sure what the big difference in the two are besides it saves a lil money, noise, and the amount of lumens put out.

There are so many grow tents out there and sizes. I want to grow 4-6 plants tall and healthy. im thinking about a white widows and white rhinos. so what size tent would be good and what kind of ducting and fans here anyone could recommend. I also have a 400 watt lamp as well

Thanks for looking at this thread, if you put any feedback its much appreciated. thank you

dollar for dollar id go with gypsys tent method . their frame choice works well and is very sturdy and costs about 100 dollars less than a store bought tent. which i own one exactly the same size as gypsys and have no benefit over that design whatsoever
that home built tent along with a 400 or 600 watt light in a cooltube will grow what you are looking for very nicely

Yaaayyy...!!!! somebody that doesn't think I am a retard..!!!!..lol..

Thanks Phinxter...

I actually figured out a good one today...

The "hot end" of the cool tube ducting is pumping out 62F air...

So I am going to use it as the intake for the tent, as it is well below the temp I want in there...

The bonuses of living in the Arctic...lol...

lol, nice job with the ac, i have the same idea. Struggling to keep the 90s in tha afternoon form hitting. pisses me off, the whole day i at 80s on average and for a few hours while i am at work the sun hits and i get 90s for 130 min. So lucky you, nice tent. I paid for my tent and i can see foro the cost of some pvc and some tarp and some zippers i could ge tthe same effect. Did you just screw on some flanges?i am wondering if they sag har at the tent. That my only concern form building my own. Also are you going to do mylar, i am now wishing and thinking of hanging some. Prob on some pvc and cardboard placards or fake "walls". After seeing what clean white can do I cant wait to see mylar

Yeah! it just turned out that the fan was facing the AC... and I really don't want to vent in or out of this hotel room... that would prob get me busted...lol...:eyesmoke:

I can just crack the window and suck cold air in... but the AC is RIGHT THERE..!!!...lol..

oh! and it works too!!!! My light's exhaust is at 62F...!!!! 62F after cooling the light!!!!!

Right now I have that rigged as an intake..!!! as it is colder than the temps I am shooting for... bonus..!!!

You have a much better finished product...

By the time I make the tenth tent, it will be comparable, as you say...

Right now I have all of the function... but yours looks better...

My plastic is not 100% wrinkle free... you can see duct tape everywhere... it is not a professional job by any stretch of the imagination... I basically "gift wrapped" the frame...

and my zippers are very flimsy, even though they cost an arm and a leg...

as for the frame... I went with steel tubing... 36 x 20 x 60 wardrobe, $25 @ walmart...

I cut the holes, in "pizza slices", if you will... so when I stuck the duct through, there were 8 triangles following the pipe out... I just taped it in place...

The intake and exhaust have flanges... secured with "worm" clamps... stiff plastic was used as a backing material...

As for sagging... there really isn't any...

I choose semi rigid ducting, so it would hold straight between the light and the fan, even if the tent was not there... no sag/no weight on the tent...

does that make any sense...:blsmoke:

No mylar for me... too easy to not do it perfect and get hot spots...

Flat white is around 87% reflective... that is plenty for me... I have a strong light... no hot spots for me thanks...

I'd stick with the white...

Actually I'd use what I used... 6MIL B&W Panda Film... took $11 worth of it to do my tent....

Just my opinion... I don't know shit really... so go with what you know...

Cheers...

pardon my ignorance, but how do you get fresh air in? i know you get a carbon scrubber to clean the air and get the bad out. how do you regulate the temperature in there if it is sealed? my 400 watter gets pretty hot even in my room, so if it was in a smaller place wouldnt it make it even hotter?

i vent the hood into and from the room the tent is in handy in the winter keeps the room the tents in a little warmer.
for the tent its self i pull air into it from another room that is temperature controlled( bedroom bathroom etc)and use the carbonscrubber (can filter in my case)and fan to vent that air into the room outside the tent..there is a little negative pressure on the tent ( the tent is sucking air instead of air blowin it up)wich means air is moving and smells cant ecscape..
if you want a sealed room you have to put a window unit a/c in there and inject co2..
check out my journal first page second post has a few pictures of my 120
