digital 1000 watt hps????

is there any difference in energy consumption between 1000w digital and 1000watt regular hps

The only thing I've heard is that the digital ones don't put a spike in your electricity usage. 1000 watts is 1000 watts. Think of physics. Power (wattage) = Voltage X Current. Voltage won't change since that is set through your breaker box and the electric company (110), and the current won't change either because the bulb is rated to only use so much.

P.S. In case you're wondering, I use a 600 watt digital and I would never go back to the old school one now that I've had a digital one.

per say that a 1000watt regular is = to 25$ a month on the elect bill would the digital be cheaper? i'm kinda lacking knowledge in this department what do you mean "it doesn't give a spike"???

A spike would only be seen in a real time report of electricity usage. When you turn on an old magnetic one and if you were monitoring it, it would spike up really high for like a split second, then come back down to 600 watts. A digital one won't do that. But it won't really be any cheaper. Maybe the ballast itself runs more efficiently, but it is still using 600 watts to power the light bulb. The amount that it is more efficient might add up to a dollar or two savings each month, if ur lucky.

so it's not the case of going a little bit more stealth? it doesn't realy make any harder for the man to catch us right.it's just safer

up here in the north it's 250$ just the ballast and 480$ for complete light
