ok for u guys info i cleard one of the pots that the lowryders were in and they were 10 inch pots and they didnt look root bound at all, not like a full size plant in a 10 inch pot after 2 months lol. I might of had 2 throw backs tho who knows.

ok..cuz im thinking bout using the same kind of soil...how long did u wait to give it nutes since the soil already comes wit it??
I gave it negligible amounts (less than 250 ppm) of vegg nutes mixed in with their rain water while they were still in their peat pellets. Recently i saw just a little bit of nute burn on one plant but that's after i gave them the 50 mL each of like 400ppm bloom nutes. all they will get now is some rain water, simple yet effective.

I have an indoor closet setup. I am expecting my NYC Diesel Ryder 2 seeds in the mail this week. I am curious if it would be alright to plant 3 seeds in one 8inX8in pot (suites my closet setup) Is this big enough for 3 plants or maybe more considering their low ratio of female to male

DAY 38 LIFEFORM: DIESEL RYDER: ORIGIN: UNKNOWN
PROGRESS. ok i meant to get these ladies on camera sooner so you diesel ryder fiends out there (myself included) can see! As you can tell i transplanted them from the styrofoam cups to alittle bit bigger 34.5 fl ounce folger's plastic coffee containers, i drilled 6 holes on bottom for water 2 drain out. They've been getting like a shit-ton of direct intense sunlight from 8:00am to about 5:00pm, when it gets darker out i always put them up in my closet under the 4 CFL's with some good airflow. The male i had earlier is gone, i had to 86 his ass from the world but not before i collected one Q-tip of pollen for future generations. i reaaaaaaaallllly hope that just a q tip will be enough for the females to make good seeds for PHASE I HYDRO. And now for the picture assault!

OK the issue now is WHEN'S THE OPTIMUM TIME TO POLLINATE?? I mean the seeds need time to develop right?? i should theoretically be harvesting in the beginning of august so would that be a good amount of time from now until then for the ladies to do their thing? Ok one more question, is it ever a good idea to put the q-tip with the pollen on it in the freezer for storage?

done right?????????

pollinate now. do not put your pollen in the freezer unless you need to store it for more than a month.... looking at the dead male, i don't think you have viable pollen.

I must of had freakishly branchy diesel ryders cuz mine were over 2 feet tall and had loadsa branches

I certainly hope you plan to leave them in those containers till they finish because i cant imagine trying to get them out of there. Looks like it's time to pray for pollen and ask for a hps for xmas to me. Were the male flowers opening yet when you collected the pollen? Any sign of golden pollen or dust about?

I too grow autos, Lr2 but the DR looks nice to me aswell, But i would never buy seeds for an auto more then once, I simply let the male livetill i see seed formation on the females, Then i collect the pollen from the male and freeze. Hopefully this way when i do eventually run out of LR2 beans i can pull my pollen out and pollinate a branch or 2 on another grow, thus not having to buy seeds or grow another male for quite some time.

Good Luck

yea i was wondering about that too because i saw one diesel ryder grow where one plant was like 6 feet tall. it was prolly planted in like a 10 gallon pot or something tho.

for these particular plants, i wanted to keep them shortys, obviously why i chose a llowryder variety. even if i get 2 grams it'll be ok, i know theres gonna be seeds poppoin out of the buds because they got nutted on before i killed the male.

i dont presume to know everything about growning but i know enough that nature trumps nurture any day of the week, So thats all the tlc they require. my next generation will be hydro so maybe they will be taller then a giraffe's pussy who knows?
much love

hey thanks for the info it helps. the pollen sacs opened up a while ago when they were all outdoors, its always super windy where i live and i know that one female got fertilized big time. i put the male indoors so the wind wouldn't blow away all the pollen so i could collect it on a q-tip. i got a 400w hps vented hood but not enough room in my cabinet to accomodate it so i improvised and made a homemade cooltube which has taken lots of time to construct...

the hardest part about the cooltube is making everything around the pyrex glass completely airtight. thanks again for the feedback and i think im gonna go be a mad scientist and fix some bugs in my hydro setup!

Ok as long as your sure of polination your good, i made a bake a round cool tube aswell once, Used foil tape to bring it up to 4" and then taped it into the duct aswell.

Good Luck

OK another update: i had to bring my cabinet indoors where it's much cooler to keep the temp below 90degrees. I fixed all air leaks and mylare'd some of the inside. Its running on an Eye Hortilux 400W HPS. I realize that i should have blasted them with the HPS sooner but its ok.

They are really bouncing back from being burned outdoors too long. All i really gotta do with this now is keep an eye on the temp. It fluctuates from 81* to about 83.5* which is kinda on the verge of too much heat. Lately i've just been leaving the front doors open for an oscillating fan for cooling airflow resulting in a constant temp of 82*.

As you can see the fuckin pic is sideways and i cant fix it, i still have to mylar the lower half of the cab so the light actually reflects back onto the girls *lol*.

Does the distance from light to plants seem too far in the pic?

Also, i found that if you dont have a magnifying glass for close look at trichs just get some binoculars and flip them shits upside down! it really does work pretty good, just gotta make sure and not get too close when you're looking through the lens.

yeah a bitid have bout a foot above, if its too hot for the back of ya hand its too hot for the girls

so heat is a major issue with this grow... im gonna have to go into the attic drill a hole and make an exhaust tube running from the cab straight up through the cieling and out the roof! if anyone has got any other suggestions about heat control lemme know!

yeah heat is a bugger lol If i dont open my cupboad doors wen the light goes on i get 90+ farenhite, not good. But with the fans on and door open it stays bout 80 degrees. Drillinjg a hole sounds like a sulution if its big enough.

What kind of time frame is there between the pollen sacs opening and having viable pollen to collect? Also, once enough has accumulated, is the qtip method the best method to collect? Thanks guys.
