In respect to these raids...it's about time cops concentrated on busting chemical dealers.

Last week up in our area, two blokes were busted smoking a bong at a boat ramp carpark in the middle of the night. In the ensuing search, more than 6300 'traffic light' ecstacy tablets were found in the car as well as 115 grams of speed. It seems they were on their way back to Cairns with a supply of drugs for 'Schoolies Week'.
Schoolies Week is an Australian tradition where high school graduates congregate in tourist spots like Cairns and the Gold Coast and get full of over-priced weed, chemical drugs and alcohol and party for a week...as well as learning about chundering on beaches and/or the feeling of sand in their rude bits.

During the bail hearing on the 13th, one was granted bail, but the second of the defendants had this to say:

the 37-year-old man said he would need to speak to a lawyer about "helping them (the police) out with what's happened... if you know what I mean".

In a second bail hearing yesterday, the second of the runners was granted bail:
Police estimated at the time the drugs had a street value of about $280,000.
A shaken Harrington begged to be allowed to go home yesterday, telling Magistrate Damian Carroll he "would do anything to get out. I just want to see my daughter," and later burst into tears when he was granted bail.

"You could liken it to (being) a drug mule," he said.
The amount of drugs seized was "quite boggling," with the defendant likely to face a term of imprisonment, he said.
There could also be a risk to Harrington's personal safety, with some "shady people very upset that so much product or drugs have been lost".
After his arrest Harrington told police he would "be paying for this for the rest of my life," the police prosecutor said.
Harrington faces 11 charges, the most serious of which is drug trafficking.
Eight of the charges relate to the Tannum Sands seizure and a further three followed after a police raid on his residence in Cairns.

Coincidentally, this story came in today:

Ten charged with drug trafficking on Gold Coast - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Seems a major MDMA manufacturer has been busted on the Gold Coast. I wonder if they decided to raid these people early because maybe one of their runners rolled over?

it's possible, but more likely either some competition did, or they're just talking alot on phone's and saying teh wrong shit.. obviously somebodies saying something...

But.. With that said, I wish the police would get all the real drug dealer's.. sorry to offend anyone and I really don't wish to see you harmed.. but when you think about it, you don;t really care about the well being of other's, else you wouldnt be selling the shit... so it does make me smile alittle more everytime I hear of a meth lab goin down or some coke dealer's gettin busted.. or well.. their mules anyway.. just too bad they cant get the real asshole's.. but then again, if they did that, who would pay their salary?

Yeah, it seems now the Gold Coast mob was a big operation. Lotsa chemicals...coke, heroin, speed, MDMA

Then just yesterday three blokes got busted after taking 80kg of ice from Sydney to Adelaide. Yep, that was 80kg.

capitalism. i believe BUYER BEWARE. dont buy the shit. turn the channel. walk away... there is so many other options.. teach YOUR children to not buy it, then YOU don't have a problem. i'm sorry if that offends you, but i don't deal, i don't buy that crap. i only grow/smoke weed. so.. if i can someone manage to make it through life without buy coke/crack/heroin/x/etc etc etc then i think others can too. and if they do buy it, it's because they wanted to buy it. it's that simple. capitalism.

I enjoy seeing news stories about ice and crack and chemical dealers getting busted.
It means a couple of things, one being a little bit of poison is slowed up getting to the streets. The second is that while they're having fun busting chemical gangs, the attention is away from us smokers.

imagine what 6300 pills looks like.

i would get pretty excitable around that much.

Well, one would hope they'd concentrate on the nasty shit rather than a bit of weed.

BTW, I'm gunna rep you for the Camel Toe wars sig. I wish i'd thought of it. Did Wikid and others get a laugh out of it yet?
