i grew these super skunk plants and what i read about em said they finish in 50 days maybe 55 but mine went till 68 days, i could just tell they werent ready.
did i pull em too early and did i ruin it by doing so?
the leafs were turning purple, which i didnt know happened to super skunk.
i really hope i didnt ruin this shit.
i have another 40 plants that were waiting to flower so i couldnt really wait any longer. i need the room
just for the record i wasnt happy with the end result of tieing them down. it created many smaller buds rather than the branches being one solid bud.
im hoping 68 days on a 55 day plant will be ok

Well if you already cut them then yeah itll have to do lol....the breeders but the flowering time alot lower then what it is to catch your attion just like the thc% and stuff all advetising bulll... but hey lloks like some nice smoke ......the way you tell if you have peak harvest is by the tricoms. more cloudy then amber

yeah i dont have a micro though. i noticed the plant go through this massive change from day 55 to 65 they started turning purlpe and the buds tips were starting to become completely red, so i figured it was done. now say i did pull em early, does that mean its garbage and i have to start over? will it suck?

I don't think it's ruined, your buds don't look so bad. The only way to tell if its ready to harvest is by the trichomes. Trichomes don't lie. Get a 30x magnifier or more and look at your trichs. If they're clear they aren't ready for harvest, if they're cloudy or milky then it'll produce more of a clear minded energetic type high, and if they're amber they'll produce a stoned couch-lock type high. The longer you leave them go amber, the more intense the "stone" gets because of the presence of more CBNs. Note that the trichomes may have an amber hue while they're clear, but I'm talking when the trichs go opaque, when you can no longer see through them. When they start to go amber at this point is when it goes to more of a "stone" as opposed to a "high" feeling.

Another thing that will increase potency at yield is harvesting in the early morning and leaving the lights off for 24-48 hours before harvest. THC is most potent in the morning hours and through the night because it has rebuilt itself to protect the plants from uv rays during the day. So harvesting in the afternoon gives a lower thc content because the resin is used up, reflecting light so the plant isn't harmed.

Here is a good link that explains a lot of this:

I know that if it has a grassy smell it's just the chlorophyll leaving the plant since it is dead. Same concept when you cut grass in the lawn and thats why it produces a similar smell. Check out some threads on harvest and curing to make sure you can get that dank smell back. It should return if proper drying and curing techniques are used. If I find a good link I'll post it up. Good luck man and may your harvest be plentiful :)

thanks bro much appreciated. i guess even if i mess these up, well i do this for the love of doing it, not because i want to get rich or sell it. so if i messed these up maybe ill get better on the next batch. hopefully

so i chopped the branches off and i hung em on a string in the closet. the closet is cool and dark. im not too sure when im supposed to manicure the buds? do i do it before i hang em or do i hang the branches to dry then after a day or so i start manicuring them. then hang em back on the line? im real confused by this step. im real worried about ruining it at the finish line.
last grow i am pretty sure i picked it early and right after i cut off the branches they lost that great ganja smell i was hoping for. this time though, they havnt lost that smell. i can already tell this times gonna be better than the last. i am anxiety ridden about it though. help please. i have read the harvest tutorial, but fd2black was using his to make hash, does that mean he really doesnt care about the buds and how they look? since hes making hash anyway? i want my stuff to look good and smell good, and taste good.

ok so u already probally got through this step. it really depends where you live and the climate. i have found in the dry area i live if i hang for two days and then manicure the small stems are easier to get at and remove the leaf and the small stem material. i have also found that since i live in a dry area that without a humidfier and a temp/humidity controller that drying and curing properly can be a time consuming procees since you don't want the buds to dry to fast but also u don't wanna bag em or bottle em to early cause then they can rot smell bad and can develop mold. Although these are problems for me they may not be for you so it really depends typically i dry for 5-6 days and then cure in a bigger jar for a couple of days and then move to smaller jars and let it cure for like 2 weeks. To me everyones pot up here taste the same cause the dry climate. this is hard to control without the previously mentioned temp/ humidity controller like the CAP-AIR1 from custom automated products. i do not have one at this time but know if i get this then i can dry at a much slower controlled pace with a higher humidity and then i'll get that dank smellig shit like they got in California or any where where the is mosture and dew is in the air. _R

i hung em for 3 days then i manicured em, then i jarred the buds. mn this shit smells fucking awsome. resin covered and sticky, but smokable and great tasting.
i was sooo worried because the last time i tried this the end product was good high crappy taste. this time im getting a nice high and really good smell. but the taste hopefuly get better the longer it cures....about the cure though every time i open the glass jar the stuff seems to get to a point where it isnt going to dry anymore. so when it hits that stage where its dry as hell but ive only opened and closed the jar for 3 days after a 3 day hanging, how is it that it will get better? does the bud produce anything after its dry? i dont get it. i figured once its dry its dry, so hows a cure work....
i cant get over how good this batch tastes, because last time right after i cut it, it lost the ganja smell and smelled like wet grass. but this time even though its at the same stage, this batch smells seriously like the best ganja smell i have been lucky enough to smell. why is that. the last one lost its pungency?

basically, if you can feel it's dry doesnt mean the cells in the very centre are dry. You want them to be dry and the moisture to be evenly distributed. curing does this. hope i helped

thanks. so far so good. i got about 3 of the largest zip locks filled with nugs. im gonna smoke like an oz the way it is probably and cure the rest for the next couple months....does curing it really bring out the best in it? im still wondering how it does.

i've heard that curing really helps. I could actually say there is truth to that because i used to get this bud off this guy nd you could literally taste fruit and shit.. OMG it was amazin. My last grow i didn't cure and it wasn't like that. This grow i'm going to properly cure it and smoke some at different time during curing to see how it actually affects. I've heard curing also makes it look better, like professional style ;);)

yeah the buds i dried came out awsome without the cure. i have lines of friends at my door beggin to smoke some. i dont sell so i just hook them up. if i could actually improve on the quality by curing this shit would be amazing.
