Do the ducted dehumidifiers preserve the air in the room? Preserve as in not take the CO2 charged air out.

I was told to keep the dehu on the opposing side of the room of your c02 gen and meter. I have never really gave it any thought in till now but, it came from someone I learned a lot from early on and have always done it.
Dehu's just draw moist air through a cold coil of the refrigeration device then condenses the water and removes it, then the air is reheated by the hot coil. I can see how this might effect your meter but not co2. I have no clue though.

I'm not sure, but I think it'd be similar to an A/C and wick some atmosphere out and I don't think it'd be substantial. Regrettably, I can't speak from experience.
I have just upgraded to a completely sealed room with a nice mini-split (super awesome btw). Room is 10x11 and sealed up and insulated tight. Only problem now is my Humidity. I have a 40pt? I think which I got off craigslist which I run nearly non-stop and I can still barely get below 60%. I plan on adding co2 to the room soon.
To avoid exhausting the room periodically, I was hoping to just control the RH with the AC/dehuy. Not sure if I should drop the $ on a bigger dehuy or just add a timed exhaust to the mix.

A few reasons for the high cost associated with a dehumidifier or air conditioner would be for one Energy star ratings and development of a more reliable product as well . Sure they are still running on the same principal and mechanics but most have become high tech now with microprocessors running the show once the buttons are pushed . Most of the higher end models have many bells and whistles like most high end goods do . Even the middle of the road products often have there fair share of such . Shit most even have a hose hook up for convenience
Another reason behind the price your seeing is due to supply and demand and sales predictions , nobody want to make more products than they can sell , as well at this time these machines are in high demand as well as AC units and fans. Buy a unit in the winter and it may be priced much lower , especially at the big box stores who get stuck with the extras .
Craigslist can be a nightmare and it can be a real wet dream .. No different than a yard sale when it comes to buying odds and ends lol .. I have gotten some amazing deals on Craigslist but have been plagued with hell when selling on it haha .. '
I think you should be accepting the responsibility for not running the machine before purchasing , the compressor should kick on immediately , live and learn in the end unless this person really accepts this and is honest . It may give you faith in humans once again if this act is followed out as said ..
Keep the air flow constant and PM will not be able to grow .. Blue Dream is not a strain that is predisposed to it from my experience and it is easy to keep the air flowing through her .....PotSnob

Professor, you just made me feel a little more confident in regards to the PM as my airflow is solid. I think I'm even going to go get a duct booster to throw on one of my intake ports for extra protection...I've just got too much on the line to lose a harvest within 4 weeks of chopping.
As far as craigslist goes...you're absolutely right. It was my own ignorance that got myself into this predicament b/c I should have known how the machine operates properly in advance and I didn't even think about hearing the compressor kick on. I just saw all the lights light up and the fan was blowing furiously and I think I was in a bit of awe at the great deal I was getting and then I had this creepy feeling come over me and I just had a feeling something wasn't right, but as you said, I may have some restored faith in humanity if this fella actually follows through with making this right...if things go the other way, then I just learned a $100 lesson.

So jonny just ate a big piece of humble pie today! Not only did I get my DH exchanged for a brand new unit, I got $20 back on top of everything. Now I feel slightly like a dick but a very happy dick

I hear you on the price of these things. Then again, most grow room equipment isn't really cheap to begin with. Do your product research (amazon is great for this) and find something that will best suit your needs.
I got my Frigidaire 70pt dehmumid on 12 April from amazon, overnighted via amazon prime for a total of $215.64. Today, 03 June, it costs $249. Im not using a hose for constant running for right now, but it weighed in on my consideration because I will be using it for that purpose later. It is easy to clean the reusable filter, easy to dump the water, and it works great. Since Im not running with CO2 right now, the unit filters my 1000sqft home (including garden room) with a vaulted cieling down to 40-45% even after a good rain. My flower room with lights on is 30-40% and lights off is never above 50.
The price was out of my budget but I decided to fork it over since rule #1 with growing is and always will be to stabilize and make the growing environment consistent. In my case, I had fungus gnats. With a combination of neem, yellow sticky traps, diatomaceous earth covering the medium, then maintaining a much lower RH severely cripped their population. Now that I switched to using coco, I havent seen a single gnat.
When it comes to your environment, never skimp, make-do, or break even. Always shoot for 25-33% more than what you will need in this department. It may cost more now, but you will be thanking yourself in the long run.
Just want to say again to do your product research thoroughly before making equipment purchases.

Since you have a central AC running most of the time, can you find a duct close to your grow and tap into it?
Run a 4" (6,8,10) hole in the ducting with dryer hose and some sort of valve to your grow.

It's a 3x3x6 grow tent. Now that I have the dehumidifier in place, my RH is stable at 35. My anxiety level has gone way down. I feel like everything is set for a beautiful harvest in a few weeks.
