I make about 2-4g of ISO hash a week from my trim, and it tastes, and smells just like the bud it came from. If he's cooking it off in a crockpot thats the first problem, it will destroy the terepenes, and give it a harsh nasty taste. If he is useing real ISO then all that should be left after the alcohol evaps is some water. After that evaps you are left with a nice clean product. Some times its shatter, some times wax depends on the material.

have seen almost purged iso
lock up lungs and cause puking.
You will never forget the flavor.
Unfortunatly it being your first hit you have nothing to compare it to.

Maybe a Sativa extract would suit you better? Just a thought. Also I agree, with iso, heat is not needed and tends to make your final product dark and gooey. I'm a beginner to the iso and bho extracts but you should find plenty of good info in the Concentrate and Extracts section. GL and sorry about your bad experience. So far I've been very impressed with these extracts. They are clean, easy, fast, and potent.
