This Purple train wreck is pretty much done after 10.5 weeks (74 daze) in bloom...never got her to turn purple even after temps in the bloom room drop down to 62. The buds do have sort of a purplish hue but it's not purpled up like the stock pics on humboldts website. These plants are the last of the PTW clones from the best phenos I found in a 10 pack of fem seeds...been growing this out for like 3 yrs so guess I got my money's worth...they are now in the dark awaiting to be chopped... thanks for looking

Welcome back nice to see you around here again

i see you like to make bubble. i don't know if you're familiar with the matt rize techniques but it changed my bubble quality big time.... now everyone i show it to wonders how i get bag hash to look so good

-always use RO ice cubes and RO water
-always rinse the hash in each bag with fresh clean cold RO water (use little pump sprayer) to rinse out the tainted water from the glob before scooping it out
-dry the hash in the clump you scoop out in the fridge for 24-36hrs
-move hash to freezer and once frozen, microplane it onto a sheet of parchment paper on a sheet pan and dry in the fride on the sheet pan for several days.

the hash drys so well like this and when you microplane it out, it breaks open some of the resin heads and give that oooey goooey appearance once its cured up in a jar. I feel like i have some pics of some hash i did in my thread, but i may be wrong. I'll be posting some pics of the next run that I do.

Yep I do bubble the same way but I'll admit I'm not a purist: I do concentrate all kinds of ways as a student of all methods of hash making. I recently got a bubble max machine; well actually it's a portable clothes washer but it's much cheaper on eBay than the brand name bubble max and is the same damn thing. Much easier than mixing with a spoon but still not as easy as blasting butane. What can I say? I prefer the taste and simplicity of bho but N-butane gets expensive doing large runs.
Related story: My homies are total idiots and a couple yrs ago they almost killed themselves trying to purge bho over an open flame BBQ grill so they went out and bought a vac purge at my suggestion. Soon after my buddies ol lady caught him dabbing with his 19yr old son and she got pissed & told them to get rid of everything so as it turned out I was gifted a brand new vac purge which i use fairly often. I prefer to do small runs of bho and if I got a shit-ton of trims or popcorn/larf I run bubble.
Also love me some dry sifted keif to put on top of a bong load at the end of a long day: I have a DIY sifting screen box & use it for trimming over and for any tiny nuggets too small to bother curing. The wifey is a fuckin keif queen & will smoke it all herself if I don't stash some away for me. If I can make very clean drysift or full melt bubble I like to put it between parchment and press it with an old clothes iron to get that gooey almost rosin type product which is the best IMO. Never did try doing rosin yet but I can see why peeps get all gaga over it.

very nice We have similar methods. I tried to press some grinder kief into rosin and it just exploded all over the paper with the particulate still in it lol. did give it that nice appearance though

I bought a silk screen (125micron) off ebay a LOOOONG time ago. I used it to do dry keif screening with trim before i got my bags. Now i just used it to trim over when i'm doing the dry trimming. The keif i scrape off the glass i have below it.... presses into the best hash i've ever seen in my life of any method. it's so pure, and so malleable. I'll try and snap some pics when i trim these brainwreck up in a week or so. I usually press it in some parchment paper, and just the heat of my fingers is enough to liquify this stuff. when i press it into a piece of thin taffy, the edges of the patty appear like glass. the best way i can describe it is it's almost like weathered glass you would find on a beach, and you were to snap a piece to reveal a shiny new layer. now i can't wait for some now that i'm talkin about it lol.

Barneys Vanilla Kush; final pics before chop... she went about 67 daze in bloom but now throwing nanners. Found a couple tiny pinhole light leaks in the bloom room doors that is the likely cause. Fuck this imma get reg seed from now on after I fix this leak....

i am of the clan of believers than pinholes do not cause bananas. you'd have to have some serious light leakage for the plant to stress from it. like outside.... where a cannabis plant would grow.... which is probably a field in early succession... is it ever so dark that you can't see your hand in front of you face?? rarely. I dunno... just my .02 ya know. I don't worry about little leaks like that.... i bet most growers would fall over if they saw how much light my passive air filters let through. Don't see any ill effects from it at all. I recently hung a piece of plastic on the inside to sort of act as a light blocker, it made a little difference, but i've still never seen anything weird going on from those filters leaking light through.

Well my bloom room door is built into like a false wall. It was just an old door that was left outside for years so it's warped pretty bad leaving a gap near the bottom. I've got a piece of panda film inside sorta like a light blocker same as you but it's got some holes in it; needs to be covered or replaced. When my ol lady goes down there to smoke during the day when lights are off she turns on the basement light which is I believe is the source of the light leaks. I've got a piece of plywood covering the gap as a temporary light shield for now.
Then again there's 6 more plants in there that are not showing hermies. This plant in particular was just on the other side of the door in front of the holes so that's why I think it's the culprit. I like to finish plants one at a time under an LED to target the lower buds in the final weeks so if the next plant(s) in queue nanners out I know there is still light leaking in. When I first built it it was totally can't see your hands dark in there but I haven't really checked it since then.

More nanners! This Afgooey plant and another was in the same spot as the last plant I harvested & they both are now throwing out bananas on the top colas. They have been quarantined but still have alotta clear trichomes and white pistils yet to ripen completely in week 10. Imma give this a few days in the dark before I cut her down...

Next up in line for the chopping block is Blueberry Headband which has become a fave strain due to its berry/fuel flavors, heady effects, and nicely sized colas. Time to pop new seeds! I'm trying to run through all the femme beans I got left so I can restock with regs; tired of having to always pull earlier than expected due to hermies and I gotta find & fix these light leaks...

Cherry bomb still in flower room at mid-week 10; gonna try to give her another week or so. Pulled the last CB at 12+ weeks but the smoke was just a bit too sleepy. Love the distinct flavor of this bud though it literally smells like cherries..Tasty! I really wanna order another 10pk of beans but all I can find is fems...the fans are turning a purple hue now but don't let the LED light fool you.

like i hypothesized to you before... it would take a lot of light to fuck with a plant. like one lumen (one candle) for sure... but anything where it's dark dark and there's just pinholes.... i would blame genetics 100% over pinhole light leaks.

Yeah all fems; have not popped a reg seed in years but that's gonna change soon enough. Still got a decent stock of fem beans yet to pop so I'm just gonna rip through them and order reg seed from a domestic bank soon as I begin to get low.

Planning to chop both of these this weekend; they are in the dark now away from my other plants which I stacked tightly in there to limit exposure to any possible light getting through the door. BBHB is a good a.p. strain: berry-sweet and diesely in total contrast to IMO the more exotic Afgooey plant which smells like a cat piss on a roadklll skunk. It's gonna be nice pulling 2 strains at a time for a change but that wasn't my plan. I'm actually much more excited about the cherry bomb still in the room. It was placed there the same day as these other 2 & has no sign of nanners due to her position; she was tucked further in the back towards the wall. I try to place them "stadium-style" & she was taller than these are thus ended up on the outside.

I seriously doubt it is a genetic issue unless nearly all my strains are confused ladyboys because every plant placed in the same spot in back of the bloom room door recently has hermied out. I know there's holes, not just pinholes I'm talking thumb sized wear holes, in the black/white poly I'm using as a light shield. It's been there rolled up with a broken yardstick as a bottom weight which worked great for the past 3 yrs but now it's getting worn in the creases.

Guess she won't ever read this so I can sort of lay some of the blame on the wifey who gets all baked and leaves the lights on in the basement; the source of the light. The zen room where we smoke (away from the children of course) is adjacent to the bloom room & has been sectioned off from the main part of the basement. I have been putting a piece of plywood in front of the door for additional shielding but sometimes I forget; so it's my own fault as well. If nobody goes into or turns the lights on during the daytime while the lights are off in the next room full of pot plants then nanners would never occur. All I gotta do is cut another piece of poly and staple it to the front as a double light shield and problem will be solved it's just I'm lazy and forget what I was supposed to do once I get home & start chillin. So indirectly it's also the result of smoking all this goodass weed.

My two cents:

The only ladies I had to pop nanners were fem beans. Since I've been popping regular beans, haven't seen a nanner in a few runs, knock on wood. I have however gotten another full on hermaphrodite.

Yes that is my plan but still got a lot of fem seeds yet to pop. Fairly certain I fixed the light leaks in the door but it'll be maybe a few months before I need to order more beans...all regs this time; no more fem seeds in my grow thx for weighing in Joe

I have one of those green led head lamps. It's supposed to be neutral light but every time I use it I get nanners.

I have spoken to the breeder of my feminized seeds often for the last few years. He has decades of experience and knows many of the famous classic breeders.

I had to comment about the nanners. One thing that can cause them in fem seed is rooting hormones used even at the start. He warns heavily about that.

About the light leaks. It's not the light it's the stress. If it is usually very dark and now the plant has a beam from even a pinhole it can cause stress. All kinds of things can. I am very diligent about my environment from nanners at a pinhole like you are experiencing. I patched the hole. No more nanners.

Except for Chem based and diesel strains. Wild sativa backgrounds like Thai too. They have a tendency to make late nanners. I see them on some of mine in the last weeks on the top buds.

I just pick them off. My breeder laughed at me when I killed a plant for it. I have never seen more than a few bagseed and barely any the better my cycles run.

There is very low chance of viable pollen on late nanners.

I have seen some real potent diesel phenos put them out about week 5 too. But no damage when I diligently pick them off.

And I run a perpetual with plants in all stages so it was a worry for me.

Just wanted to help. I have gotten great plants from the s-1 seeds that resulted as well.

I forgot to add. Nutrient stress particularly continued salt buildup at the roots also is a major contributor to the problem.

My Thai heavy Herijuana cross threw stamen way too much until I got her picky feeding habits dialed in.
