Hey thanks Don! The roll-a-scrogs did not quite work out the way I thought they would mostly because i think I need a larger veg area to fill them out before flipping them. I can only fit one of those at a time in my 36"x36" 2nd stage veg tent. In comparison the scrogs yielded slightly less than plants that were simply topped a few times and allowed to veg a bit taller. I bet they would work better if I had more veg space. I'm thinking about converting them to square rolling planters.
Super lemon haze is superb bud but I gotta admit that 14 weeks was too long. I could've pulled at 12 & would've been less sleepy. I will go 11-12 weeks for that strain from now on. I think i was looking at a lot of the lower nugs which had more clear trichs. Many times I harvest out of need for weed but if I can lay back I tend to try and wait till the last minute to chop; got lazy & waited too long this time I think.
The old mesh bag bottom I used to use for hash runs still works really well as a giant hobo-style tea bag on a stick. It keeps all the solid stuff from mucking up the tea while infusing it with all the goodies. Plus the stick is good for dunking & stirring up the shit every 12hrs or so. I squeeze the bag out real good with rubber gloves and toss the spent tea waste into the recycling soil bin. If I have extra tea left over I load it into a garden sprayer & filter it again through another mesh this time a 90u bag to take out any small chunks that clog up the sprayer & then spray my lawn & veggies with it. A mesh bag would probly work well in a vortex brewer too.
I hear ya. Our 1st no till bed on wheels or our first 2 for that matter were not 100% successes either, by any means.. first one had too deep of crevices (used 2x4 then smart pot fabric in between slats) and the second ones were too deep with not enough aeration, but in the right spaces, and applications, with some tweaks, we got some cool ideas man, could be really awesome in the future.
I hear you on watching the bottom of that SLHz too, that strain really matures from the top down, eh.. I did a 3 stage harvest once on the PG (more the sativa / SLHz pheno) 3 weeks apart each time and pulled like 3 zips each time, they can put out. but yeah, 9 weeks of harvesting! Bet I started bit too (tbh) early that time and waited bit too long cause I didnt do any trimming down low as she went into flower.. quite branchy those sativa phenos can be, especially when topped!
Now have gone towards more a top and LST style, or FIM and LST, and aim for about a top per gallon, of soil, give or take, depending on pheno of course. And clean up the lowest branches that aren't going to become tops.
Not that I don't appreciate an untouched untrained plant, thats just beautiful too.
But yea, very enjoyable tops at 10 weeks, effects from day 77 (middle canopy) are also very good.
Keep up the open minded work, man, nothing is better for the game than that.
