desperation sets in as trump drops like a stone in the polls

The guy has been clueless all along. During the campaign, big difference between Trump's rallies and other campaign rallies was in how the candidate had people available to reach out and recruit volunteers for help going forward. Every other campaign did this. They had people in the crowd, talking and gathering names of people who wanted to help. Trump had none of this. As if Trump in his narcissism only considered himself to be important and not the people at the rally. Same with the campaign now.

Just a couple of weeks ago, he said TV ads were "not important". So, now he's asking for money? He's a dollar late and a dime short. And now making emergency calls for money when its obvious that any further donations would be just throwing money into a losing proposition. Showing his inflated image of self worth. Rich people don't throw good money after bad, at least not ones that stay rich.

Another historic loss for the GOP is on the horizon. 142 days to go.

"GOP Vote split as party tears itself apart. Johnson receives more votes than any third party candidate in the last hundred years and Clinton wins the election by the widest margin since George Washington." Just my prediction of how headlines will read in November.

Roosevelt's American or "Bull Moose" party captured just north 27% of the vote. In more modern times, Perot/Stockdale ticket took almost 19%. Exceeding either would really put the Libertarian Party on the political map.

Frankly, I'd prefer to debate with libertarians than with the shitheads now calling themselves Republican. But, from what I see, about 30-40% of this country are shithead white racist ignoramuses. Libertarian, as much as I disagree with the ideology, requires more brains than those jerkoffs have.

Nah, the Libertarians are gonna pick up the "No gun laws at all" torch as the GOP starts slowly moving towards gun control like Florida's Governor (and Trump) have started doing. Granted it's a slow move (like, glacial), but even an inch in that direction will send all the NRA types running for the hills and they will be the #1 jumpers to the Libertarian ticket. They could get more than Perot got in '92. I don't think they will get more than the 27% that the Bull Moose got, but I will be saved by my careful wording (and my unabashed use of hyperbole) as that happened in the 1912 election putting it JUST outside my 100 year limit. Granted, any of that would be a miracle since the Libertarians have never gotten more than 1.1% of the vote, but Trump winning the GOP primary had similar odds, so this may be the year for longshots.

The "no gun laws at all" position is a losing one long term. This kind of thinking is core to libertarian ideology, which is why the party will always be fringe.

This because fewer people own guns today than 40 years ago and the downward trend shows no sign of abating. I believe we will reach a tipping point and serious gun safety laws will become the law of the land. Non gun owners will drive this because gun owners have delayed, obstructed and fumbled away the chance to decide for themselves how to reduce injury and death due to firearms.

So, yeah, libertarian party rolls will bump up, maybe even to 20% of the population. But still not enough to hold power.

Edit: please note that I'm not saying serious gun ownership restrictions will become law of the land, just gun safety. I'm not a gun owner and not one to say what that would look like, I just know that non-gun owners are losing patience with the gun owning minority who are acting as if the current level of injuries and accidents as well as gun violence is unavoidable.
