Sup all, I've been lurking here for quite some time and have finally decided to join. I frequent many similar boards elsewhere.

Sorry if this is in the wrong subforum.

Anywho, I wanted to share my plans for a medical op and get opinions. I believe I've got most worked out pretty decent.

It's a first grow, first off, but been studying technique for over a year now. Swim's grown plenty of other plants and fungi with good to great results.

Design is for 20-40 plant setup started from clones. Either Indica or hybrids, Scrog style.

First off, lights. 2x 1000watt HPS/MH Switchable system. 18/6 Vegging for around 4 weeks or so, and 12/12 for around 8+ weeks. Of course the times are strain specific. Still need to pick a reflector for the lights. Any advice for cheap and efficient?

Water system is DWC, 4-6 plants with large air pumps in large (unspecified) plastic tank sealed off so no light gets in. Tops of containers with holes with places to hold the plant with its perlite/verm/agg. clay medium inside those lovely little net containers others use, I forget the name. Water completely changed every 7 days. All specs. monitored 24/7 (ph, ppm, temp, hum., etc). Not specific on nutes to be used yet. Any recommendations?

Copious fans for cooling. Carbon filter system and later adding those fancy big carbon scrubbing machines.

scrog screen to be between 2-4 inches narrowness.

Microscope to monitor progress.

Flushing during last 2-3 weeks before harvest. Curing with proper technique for about 1 month. I know that it should be for longer.

Assuming all variables are constant and correct, what kinda yield you think this could pull off? Like 20 plants of say, Purple Wreck or GDP?

Thanks.:weed:

as long as you've got the cash for this kind of setup I say go with a perpetual harvest, and get a couple oz to a lb every two weeks.

Looks good man, good luck. Hope you got the green thumb, otherwise that's a ton of gear to resell...

Hey man you seem like you got everything down for the first grow! Oh, you dont have to say SWIM here at RIU unless you want to...but nobody does :)

Anyway, I kinda tend to agree with Ian on the perpetual harvest idea. If its at all possible to partition your grow space for separate veg and flower rooms that would be awesome. Never grown Purple Wreck, but I have grown three different Trainwreck crosses and have always been happy with the results (im growing Afgooey x Trainwreck now). I have grown GDP under 1000w lights and did really well (or so I like to believe). I pulled 3 lb and like 3 ounces from 22 plants under two 1000w and one 600w in soil. Considering the DWC setup and how well you seem to be prepared, I'd say you should pull about the same if everything goes well.

Well I hope I was of some help, good luck with your grow my friend hope all goes well peace!

PS. Go with air-cooled reflectors if you can afford them - I always wished that I had sprung for them (instead of shitty batwing type reflectors) when I started. Also, you should use the Hydroton clay in your netpots - I hear bad things about vermiculite in DWC.

Thanks a ton for the tips! Gonna avoid verm now. He's used to working with it elsewhere. As for reflectors, thanks again, he was thinking about going with the cheap batwing ones to save money. I've heard efficiency can be variable like 10-20%+ between different reflectors. I'll look into air cooled nicer ones.

I honestly want to eke out 1/2lb to 1lb a plant. Yes, I know that is nuts. Yes, I know it is unrealistic. I've seen people pull lb's per plant with similar setups. I don't have to worry about genetics or clone health also which helps.

Aiming for at least a QP per plant if not more.

Perpetual harvest may be something down the road, but right now, he wants to do uniform crops. Makes it easier on him. Maybe at most have one veg while another set flowers later on.

Much love.

Hell yeah man go for it! I don't think a QP to a halfer from each is unrealistic at all thats a good goal to aim for. But I think 20 plants maybe too many for only two thowies I wouldn't do more than 12 at the most if im veggin 'em big enough to pull 4-8 zips per. But then again, i'm a dirt bagger, not a bubble head :) Like I said before, your yields might be better from the DWC instead of soil. You should make a legit grow log in one of the other forums that way people can chime in with tips and help along the way. I would subscribe! Peace!

Oh yeah bro, no worries, there will be plenty of delicious grow logs left behind eventually. I love grow logs myself. I'll def. keep this thread updated with everything/pics.

Just gotta finish my setup and find my house :bigjoint:

Yeah, I hear DWC > Hydro > Soil as far as yield goes. And I'm looking for yield haha.

I hear that on average the most a single plant eats is around 50 watts. Thats why I figured 2x1000 would be enough for 20-40 plants.

Luckily also going to have space; an entire, large room dedicated.
