Northern lights has a low leaf to bud ratio so you won't have a massive bush from that strain.
The blue mammouth looks nice I have a seed of this and I can't wait to get her on the grow.
Every blue mam mouth I've seen have done well. YouTube-Ashley lush-blue mam mouth.
Check this out, if you haven't already seen it?
You say ur results where not as good with defoliation, yet I tried and mine were better.
Weird isn't it...
Each to there own eh ?
I'm posting pics later to show peeps on here that growth still happens with buds when defoliating.
It's been 5-6 days since I done the first trim and there is a big difference.
I'm just going to drag her out of room and take a quality picture with no blurple lol
Do u defoliate autos also???

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg Yes. I have done a first trim on it and il do another at the end off week 7.
Autos grown Dwc or Hydro can seem to withhold stress levels better.
I grew photos back in the day but constant problems with them. And stress and difficiancies are harder to rectify.
I grew autos in soil and still the problems noted above are still just as slow to rectify as well.
But autos in Dwc grow larger, you need big buckets to get large plants in soil.
They handle stress
better.
Difficiancies in soil can take between 3-7 days to get better. in Dwc I've actually experienced a repair to difficiencies within 1-2 days.
So add all this together and this is why I trim sun leafs and black spot because I know the plant can handle periodic trimming.
The actual plant structure is solid and very strong. It has a trunk like a bonsai tree.

your nutrients probably have enough that you don't, BUT it is a common problem with LED users.
Maybe so.
I suppose we should agree then that it's all down to experience. I don't get this problem and other farmers I know haven't either.
Forums wouldnt exist if we all knew what we was doing.

Well put Flowki! That thread in the advanced section looks like a nice thread on Defoliating. I have nothing against doing it and think it can be done in a beneficial way. I find the thread on it in the newbie section taking place this week annoying.
https://www.rollitup.org/t/defoliation-opnions-needed-pics-provided.951866/
Like you said the ones advocating it in newbie central go on and on but not once will they talk about how a newbie should not do it because they may FUCK UP their plants. I posted comments as have others about their conversation and they have no response. I'm going to give them that thread so maybe they can join the conversation there in the advanced section.
Read the thread below and join the conversation:

We did it back in the eighties thinking it would push all the resin in

Some of us did it back in the eighties when we were teenagers growing bagseed behind the rhododendron in the back yard hoping our mom wouldn't find our plant. It was supposed to make the resin flow into the buds. We didn't know any better and we never really got any decent buds and were constantly defoliating and smoking those fan leaves. This was before there was a wealth of information available online and cell phones were the size of a shoe box.
Ah, to be young again.
That was the 70's, by the 80's I was growing top shelf blueberry lol.

You have plenty of knowledge right now. Just make sure you use it. It's easy to stray.

The "Bright images flashing by like windshields towards a fly" line come's from a Rush song I was listening to a year before you were born. I was growing plants a few years before that. We had secret grows in the vacant areas where we lived. Of course the plants usually died or we got hardly anything but it was a time in my life I'll cherish forever.
Happy growing!
Rush played at my high school dance ;).

First round of flowering nutrients were given last night, here's a 12 hours difference. Day 10 flower. Thank you phosphates!

To continue my journey of knowledge on defoliation, I'll probably trim her up in around week 3 of flower.

Day 12 of flower, shit's getting out of control in terms of leaf management.. I want to wait to until stretching is done until I prune, but I may have to move that time up a bit.

Would anyone care to share their opinion on light distance from the top of the canopy? Currently Under ViparSpectra 600W at about 16" from top of buds. They seem to be doing less well than the lower buds.. should I adjust light height?

May be important to to provide that there is abolsutely no signs of light stress on the leaves themselves
