i have been growning for 2 years now and i naturally started doing this i dont top or super crop. but i have been useing l.s.t a bit to bend over tall sativas. i tend to take leafs off to allow more light penatraition through and i got to looking this up and found im not the first to discover this. keef treez has been useing defoliateing for 30 plus years. with amazeing results as i said i dont cut tops or crush stems to get more colas /heads. what ever suits you but my point is with topping and croping how many colas can you get from a 3 foot plant i got like 12 lol ill show you mine as an example witih topping you lose one just to make 2 and so on super cropping pretty much just the same better but at what cost . as i said no topping or cropping just defoliated gets me multipable colas heres my pics well go ahead flame me what ever it works .IMG_20120923_144728.jpgIMG_20120923_144736.jpgwell maybe not 12 but i made my point lol

Your pics do not justify your claims. Defoliation is counterproductive. But you're convinced so go to town. I get far more topping and then bundling them and laying completely over. The fan leaves hang, the buds stick up. Taken 12 September. The buds are huge now. 6 to 7 foot Super Silver Haze.

I had just read that article and came here to see if anyone else is getting results by defoliating! Question: How many days after defoliating was the pic taken?

Also, do you plan on continuing? I'd love to see what happens!

I'll give it a try next grow and see what happens, til then I'll keep my eye on this thread.

Dude I've grown since 1964. I'm telling you that you can do better. One, let it grow up, top it 2 times at least. Every place you can pinch it, do it. Pour the light to it when you have it in a big container and even the tallest sativas can then be trained by simply breaking the branches. Gently, gently beeeeend until you feel the branch snap and give. In 2 days that bend will be calloused and every bud site along that now-level branch will be up! Lower branches included and that's with leaving all fan leaves on. Or bend a bunch of wire "S" hook and hang those on the end of a branch and begin hanging stuff from it until the branch levels out to horizontal or even a little lower. When the weights are removed after a few weeks the branches remain leveled and again, bud production.

Or make them stretch after topping and bundle them and lay them over. I have done that outside for many years after losing more than one grow to bandits. Your buds look really great. Make more of them on bigger vertical plants. You have what it takes.
