deficiency in current culture system

On so I'm running ro water and using a current culture system with their nutes.

I use only

Calimagic @1ml per gallon
Uc roots
A/b
Mid bloom

That's it, plus pro-tekt silica at less than .5 ml per gallon on res changes to keep ph super stable.

Here's the leaf issue, the pic with my hand was taken on the 6th, the other pic shows the progression on the 10th

At that point plants are 40 days old (36 in pic with hand)

I talked to the cch2o guys, they were super unhelpful (I think) telling me it's nutrient burn from too high og a ppm. I hit 690 on the 500 scale at the highest.

I'm thinking maybe not enough calimagic. White board shows ph/ppm are stable, ro water comes out at 0 ppm. About ready to change up nutrients but I love how ph/ppm stable they've been.

What do you think?!

Remember they say these systems are supposed to use low ppm and I'm following the chart....

Feel like I'm not seeing the size I should out of these systems, so like I said thinking of changing nutrients soon if I can't figure it out. I hate to say it but I think I grew much bigger buds in soil, but my hydro plants look like they're on steroids, the buds just don't blow up. I'm thinking deficiency is prob slowing them down

Anyone using current culture with recommendations on nutrients or what's going on. Please help!

BTW this has hit the tips of the buds on the last few rounds, frustrating! Maybe I'll have to drop the ppm just to see because that's what the guys with the systems say, also here's a disolved oxygen readings I just took

Roots look good, seems to be doing it to most plants but stains are gg4 x a11g, Emerald jack, Oregon huckleberry on the one light. I'll post up a full pic later today.

Is that temp reading of 26.09c your water temp or your room temp? Are you using a water chiller? Not saying it's related, but I'm curious.

Na is the water temp... room is about 76.. but I have no root issues. I run many systems so a chiller isn't really an easy option, though I may try to set up some cool coils in the near future, I do have a 1/2 hp chiller.... I think, could be 1/4, I don't use it.... might also run on just one system and see if benifits are worth it

Temp might get a little lower without one of those warm air pumps running in each system

I run a cold coil in my rdwc to keep temps in the sixties. It's very important because total dissolved oxygenation in water is much more dependent on temperature than active agitation.

Instead of air pumps, I top feed and let the waterfall effect both aerate the water and beach anything carried within it.

I never have root issues, EVEN WHEN I DELIBERATELY PUT ROTTEN NASTY SHIT IN.

The water to water cooling coil in the RDWC is integrated with my water cooled environmental control system, so it's just another pair of lines from the manifold.

I've been told that it was from over aeration... I was running 35 gallons of water with (2) 38 lpm pumps, so I was at 76lpm for 35 gallons, over 2 per gallon, which they say is almost impossible not to burn at.

So I cut one pump from each system, now 38 lpm for 35 gallons (close to 1 lpm per gallon)

Hopefully this solves the problem....

WHO said that.

Immediately drop them as a credible source of information.

Personally, I would unfriend them from facebook too.

LOL @SnaFuu. That recommendation actually comes from Current Culture's website. They recommend .75 lpm per gallon for the system. I did the same thing. No Way, that's way too low air volume. My system of 28g recommends 20 lpm. That is pretty low imo. I have a 60lpm on mine and it seems to be working just fine. After reading that info on CC's website I fiddled around with a smaller pump, etc. and just decided to let the 60lpm run as it is. Only time i noticed the slightest tip burn is when ec was 1.8.

I just re-emailed them again today kind of beating a dead horse and this was the reply

The brand of Cal-Mag you are using is not going to make a huge difference.

The only thing we suggest is to use the Cal-Mag with the lowest possible nitrogen.

You should use 1/4 mL/gal in veg, 1 ml in flower. That is only in cases where you are using R.O.

Your aeration levels versus the higher than recommended levels of nutrient for that aeration level IS what has been causing your issues.

Please continue to follow the recommendations as stated in the last e-mail.

Your overall PPM's should not exceed for any reason the levels that we are suggesting on the High Yield feed chart.

But cut back 25% from there (High Yield #'s) for optimal performance with the aeration level that you have been providing AFTER taking the extra pumps off.

That is an over-all PPM. That is with every product in solution.

From the details that you have given me, there is absolutely no reason to go for Cal/Mag deficiency.

You are a very meticulous man and I respect that.

Please apply the detail-oriented, meticulous nature of your thought process to trying to understand and follow directions.

I feel as though I have been fairly clear. Let me know if I can provide further assistance.

And please be in touch if/when more things develop. We cannot help with things we are not aware of.

P.S.

Always check their aeration if they are saying your PPM's are too low.

I hear of people running extra high PPM's but they also fail to mention that they drastically reduced or completely took off their stock aeration system.

Obviously, this will affect uptake and they will be running a completely different system than the one we are giving tech advice on.

So I would always suggest trying the out-of-the-box aeration, directions, and feedchart just once as a scientific control before branching out.

It is a Proven Production system for growth that has worked as-is with no changes for thousands of people who are getting great yields and amazing results.

What do you think about keeping your ph closer to 6.0 for flower so it can uptake more Mg?
