Deep or Wide Pots?

Do you have any proof of this? Not doubting you, would just like to know before I go ahead and give it a go :P

Tell us what the book says then, rather than just telling everyone they're wrong.....


p.s I know this thread is a couple of months old from the last post but thought I'd post in here rather then create a new thread...

I realize this goes against prevailing consensus here but just from my observations from yanking up many rootballs after the chop, I've noticed that the rootball tends to grow outward much more than downward. That is not to say that the tap and secondary roots do not continue to go downward until it's dead.

but if you have limited space, using wide pots will decrease the number of plants you can grow, how much more yeild do you have to get to be more than an extra plant or two?

I'm a deep pots guy and follow the theory of wanting a large tap root, but I have found bottom roots stay too wet for me, but in practice I've had very good results my wide pots too
