Decided to grow in soil...

I finally got a DECENT sized room to grow in. Problem is, Im going to do this alone and I have a hard time making a hydro system. And, I can't purcahse one anywhere around here. (dont wanna use the net) Anyways, Im thinking about not cloning and all that but just growing about 10 plants... Im going to use good high P. lights and that shiney sticky shit everywhere. But.....the problem here is...I never grew in soil. I heard it takes longer to grow. About how long do you think it'll take to get it about say....5-6ft.? And...Im not driving all those miles to get the "good soil." So, would mircle grow help in anyway or harm my plants? Thanks guys.

Thaat soil will work but i wouldn't use it.

To grow them 6 feet that will take about 4 months or more

Alright, well I fucked around and I found out I CAN make a hydro system. I do have a grow space of about 4 1/2ft. by 4 1/2ft. and 8 feet tall. Now I only have one final question.
Im having some light paranoia. Do I REALLY need HPS lights to flower? Can't I use about 2-3 4 foot florscents?

You really need HPS to flower. Do not even consider anything else.

Growing in soil is easy, it works better than hydro for me, I don't know why but that is how it works and the Hydro plants are doing just fine, nice and green and growing, just the soil grows faster for me. Thinking of trying different nutes, I don't know.
