Day one....First grow.....

Looking good! Sounds like a good plan, as well. It's best to start your seedlings out under less intense lights - fluorescent tubes, or CFL's, are great for the first couple weeks - they provide adequate light, without the intensity - and because you can keep them so close, it really cuts down on the stretching. Fair warning - your seedlings are gonna stretch like mad under that 1000w. You may want to consider investing in even a cheap floro, for now.

Hey there everyone,

Its now day four and i notice quite a bit of growth from lastnight. It makes me happy to know that the babies are happy and growing at least. I do notice that a couple of plants are stretching due to the 1000 wt im using........i had the light to over 3 ft away from the seedlings....i decided to just move it to 26 inches above...the temp seems to stay at 79 f the humidity at 48-50% i added a little dirt to the cups cuz they seemed kinda empty...lol felt like i was being stingy towards the plant so i gave em more dirt and moistened lightly with a squirt bottle..

im working on a t5 fixture but we'll see, i may just have to make due...I have a good feeling that lowering the light will improve the stretching situation a littlebit, however i dont't know a damn thing!! lol I do know only about 4 plants out of 28 are stretching (you can see in pic #4) to the extreme degree....gotta experiment a little with the light!

I would love to hear what everyone thinks about the pics below, its only four of them, but it just shows some progress!!!

can totally tell you're addicted to the growing process - and you should be when you want to have awesome results.

love reading the day by day of this grow, reminds me of when i first started out. Good for you for thinking about the lighting and the heat, just make sure you're not obsessing too much.

plants can't handle too much tinkering either, okay?

I think a hobbyist just turned into a PASSION!! LOL.... as it should!! if not ..you aint doin it right!! Nice grow brother! I'll enjoy watch these girls turn into mature ladies!!

You should go get you some 4 foot fluorescents. Just get you about 2 of them, and put 1 warm white and 1 cool white bulb in each unit. These put an even amount of light to your plants, and you can veg them as long as you like with them.
