Gonna harvest this in two tiers on two days, because I want to little buds near the bottom to ripen more.

The first tier appears to be close. . .I think (?). . .

Yes, I know I'm being impatient, but I'm trying. . . :)

Looks good. We can only speculate so much based off pictures. At this point I would be using magnification to make sure trichomes are cloudy and amber.
 
Nice job! I wouldn't worry about the trichs to determine when you cut, that's not necessarily a good way to tell ripeness. I used to try and go by trichs, but on branches I left after harvesting to experiment with overripeness, the trichs never turned amber . You're close, I'd guess 1-2 weeks more. What you want to look for are the orange hairs receding and the buds to plump up a bit.

I wonder if the orange hairs actually recede, or just seem to when the buds swell?

I've cut a couple open with a scalpel when I got to wondering the same thing. It was hard to tell as I just did a few but it looked like they were just getting swallowed by the plant tissue as it got ripe and swollen. I'm sure one of the botony PhD guys on here could tell us. Any plant physiology specialist want to offer some insight?
