DAY 67 WTF LOL

Some don't amber at all which is why you need to look at the overall plant. Some are finding amber on sugar leaves and chopping even though the flowers still have lots of white pistils. What happens is new growers hear "Amber" then spend hours using their cool USB microscope searching for amber trichomes. They find a few on some sugar leaves and are in such a hurry to harvest that they chop way too early. Then they post in the Harvest and Curing section asking why their buds aren't dense and smell like hay. Always check the trichomes on the calyx's not the sugar leaves.
I was assuming we were all talking about trichomes on the buds. I was saying that with some sativas, I've heard that the trichomes mature differently than indicas. They don't always go through the milky stage. Could be bole shit though

I am keeping an eye on them with a loupe. Day by day from here and once they are where I want them they are going dark for 48-72 hrs. Then chop. Can't wait to taste it...in a month down the road lol
Hello there. Can you tell me why you will put them in the dark for three days? Just learning right now and am curious as I have never heard of that.

Ok this is an article or post I read a long time ago and kept.

1) Darkness increases resin production.

During a plant’s dark cycle, respiration is in full swing. The light during the day provides the sugars/energy during respiration in the dark for growth of many things including trichomes and the oils inside. This is a normal process during flowering. When a plant is maturing and pretty much done, you shouldn’t see many, if any, clear trichomes forming. This is easy to check and don’t hold your breath waiting for more trichomes to form when the plant is finishing in those 3 dark days.

2) Darkness increases terpene production.

Terpenes and other secondary metabolites form mainly during the dark cycle.

3) Terpene levels are at their highest at the end of the dark cycle right before lights on.

Heat from the day evap’s volitle terp’s off we can smell so it make’s sense the highest levels would be when they are forming during the cycle with the coolest temps.

4) Sugars/starches recede from the plant to the root zone while in dark cycle resulting in a better tasting/burning bud.

This is also a normal cycle when the plant is growing leaf and photosynthesizing. At the end of the plants life there shouldn’t be much of anything going on if the plant is truly finishing. It’s a good practice for sure to cut during the dark cycle to gaurantee she hasn’t sucked anything up during a day time chop.

5) Chlorophyll isn’t produced/active in the dark and existing chlorophyll begins to break down.

This happenes during the drying period anyways

Now lots of people will say bro science or voodoo but I do everything I can to make my weed smoke better and taste better and hit better so its up to you. Hope that helps

Yes man I always check all signs and the biggest and easiest way without any tools is pistols. Once they all go autumn and curl up then you can almost guarantee that trichomes are ready as well. I think I chopped to early last harvest and I'm taking this batch to the finish line. Its soon probably within the next few days and I'm hoping I dont have to water again before I put them dark.

So would taking my girls down in the dark be more beneficial?

Don’t forget to put 40L of water through your medium, stab your stalk with a ice pick 40 times and put 3 bags of ice on your root ball too.

Man I don’t know if I want to grow sativa any - fucking - thing for a while after this tent and the next. I am on goddamn day 67 and still barely any amber showing itself. FML my veg tent is growing trees right now hahah man I fucking planted and cloned that shit to early hahaha. I’ve had about 100mg of eddies and a few woolly pops and a ton to smoke but I think I’m fucked hahaha. Tent wise I mean.View attachment 4469024View attachment 4469025View attachment 4469026View attachment 4469027
You are very close and one thing about some sativas is they don't necessarily change from clear trichomes when they are finished.

At this point I encourage you to take a test nug, quick dry and smoke it. It will taste and smoke like shit but you are looking at the high profile. If it's where you want it, chop it. If it's not then wait another week or two and do the same thing.

@Thundercat and @Dr. Who both gave you good advice. After they weighed in I figured this was about all I could add.

Nice grow, enjoy the fruits of your labor!
