Harry Morgan, the prolific character actor best known for playing the acerbic but kindly Colonel Potter in the long-running television series “M*A*S*H,” died on Wednesday morning at his home in Los Angeles. He was 96. His son Charles confirmed his death, saying Mr. Morgan had been treated for pneumonia recently.


In more than 100 movies, Mr. Morgan played Western bad guys, characters with names like Rocky and Shorty, loyal sidekicks, judges, sheriffs, soldiers, thugs and police chiefs.

RIP Harry Morgan. 96 is a pretty good run. We should all be so lucky as to make it to that age.

He was in someone's Dead Pool, no doubt.

He was awesome as Joe Friday's partner on Dragnet.

And as Col. Potter, uttered one of the funniest lines I ever heard.

As a war vet I enjoyed watching Mash it was 1 of the longest running Sit Com's ever, I still watch it.
Remember the show before Col Potter showed up were his predecessor died??

Cols. Blake and Potter were so awesomely cool in completely different ways. Just like Trapper John was cool, but B.J. Hunnicutt could condense oxygen. cn

Not all i live in wonderland. Not near nor far

i still watch at least 4 episodes of mash every day, still on tv land from 6pm to 8 pm monday through friday if you have tv land, check it out.. it is still one of my all time favorite shows..

i like the episode where henry was still in charge of the good ole 4077th, and i potter came in for some inspection, but his name wasn't potter on this episode.. anyhoo's, he comes in and was completely off of his rocker, told the one black guy on the show to sing him a song and shit, cuz it's in his blood or w/e, then he gets up and started dancing around, a real classic..


but damn, 96, i guess you don't have much to be mad about living that long, but he will surely be missed.. i wonder if tvland will run a mash athon this weekend or anything in his honor? that would be kickass...
