hi im new to roll it up, started growing a few mnths ago with cfl's then changed to hps and my plants went a bit mental! im growning cheese, all from cuttings, the mother was beautiful but mine not so much! as you can see in the pics looking very dry and unhappy.

i now realize i should have slowly changed from cfl to hps but didnt and they all burnt quite badly. they seem to be getting better as far as burning goes but something still isnt right.

ive been using biogrow once a week when watering, they perk up about an hr after feeding but then just start drooping again. the soil doesnt seem to be holding water very well, even a night after watering they feel dry again.

think my water may be a little too alkaline, but not sure....
any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! :)

Welcome to RIU

What kind of soil are you using? How about PH of your water?

Make sure the HPS is far enough away....use the back of your hand to see how hot it is at the tops of your plants.

Hi thanks for your quick reply
soil is all mix, water is around 7ph. ive just got a britta filter to try soften the water a little

the hps is high up as it has burnt the plants before, the tips of the leaves are not hot but the leaves have a crisp feel not soft like new growth should be

Thankyou :)

It could be a number of things but from first look....they look over/under watered. It looks like your pics were taken under your HPS light....all yellowish looking and its kinda hard to tell. It would help if you took them out and posted pics that were taken under normal light.

I would flush them with 3x the container size of ph water. Let them sit for 3-4 days then give them another dose of ph'd water. Maybe 1.5 times the size. I have no idea the strength of biobizz you mixed up but after a week of ph water feeding---- mix nutes up at 1/4th the recommended dose.

I have my plants sitting in nutes half strength...soil loses nutes within a couple of weeks of use.

I never water once the roots hit the bottom of the pail...i just add at the bottom about an inch or two of nute water...as the pail sits in another container.

the soil soaks up a bit...but never to the top...leaving some roots exposed for air

Like I said, Flush them good then start nutes at 1/4 strength. Hopefully whatever it is will correct itself after a good flush. You need a fresh start. You dont want to give nutes every feeding. Do something like this feed, feed, water, feed, feed, water.
I can see why pillarize says potassium or N def but trust me, flush and give them a fresh start. I have cal-mag that I add to my nute feeding schedule and it wouldnt hurt if you did that as well.

I use Cal-Mag Plus. You can get it here or look for it somewhere else online or a hydro store. A little bottle is all you need and I only use about 3ml per gallon.
