Well last time I was up to look at my outdoor. Temps where expected to cool. Fuck if they did. I lost 1/4 of the plants I had. Not that they where in good shape. Elk got ahold of them when in the grownd. Managed to save dome but put them in pots. So now I got 1.5 foot plants but all cola. So basically 3.5 1.5 foot plants left. This was a test to see what the plants could do out here. So I can plan next years big grow. Anybody eles suffer from this last heat wave?.

Damn wish I was here to watch them then. I'm only here every 2 weeks and for 2 days. But like I said this is a experiment to see what I need to do for the big grow.

same city as this guy.. been here since 88... yeah the heat sucks.. have used diff methods to keep the girls alive as my 1st fear was heat... added an umbrella... kept the concrete cooler with water (mainly cuz I am a clean freak) but it helped..

the problem most growers face is doing something at the wrong time of the day... water in the am or later pm watering daily helps esp if your girls and post can take the water 2 days w.o water here my plants are wilting... 3-4 days it's bad..

Yea in cen cal you need to water heavily. I I don't water for a day my plants are hurting. Water is essential so try and water daily or every other day, I would go 2 days without watering until the temps drop into the 80's later this month.... My plants thrive in the scorching valley sun lol....

I'm in the central valley and it was very hot and dry. Water 2-3 days. Everything is fine. Except the few parts of the plants that had all sun. I moved them to a shadyer spot. Hope it works. Don't think there is any saving the fried sections. But quess I'll see.

what area of the valley ? the central valley is .. huge. you near stockton, merced, fresno ?

one thing I've noticed this year smartpots keep your roots cooler and require way less watering. last year I used plastic pots of a comparable size and those I did have to water every day during the heat. the smartpots allowed me to water the potted plants on the same schedule as the plants in ground. another thing i did differently was adding vermiculite. I highly recamend this in potted plants as it holds moisture.

I Live in Sothern cali and as long as i water every 1-2 days, my plants do fine. But i dont think they can make it in triple digit temps beyond 48 hours without wilting too.

This is the worst one.

After all the stress they have been thru they where looking ok. But as you can see the part that was in the sun died. But the part that had shade is doing fine. Well ok at best. these girls have had it hard. So I'm not expecting great plants. Just experimenting. So I was just asking if someone eles had this issue. I know what I have to do to fix it next year.

plant them in the ground or use larger smart pots. your plants can take 100* weather no problem.. as long as the roots are cool.

There 3 gallon pots and was transplanted to them 2 weeks ago. They where in the grownd till elk found them. Save 4 but had to dig them up and pot to do so. They where 3 foot ate down to 8 inches. That was about 8 weeks ago.

well that explained why they where stress. It had nothing to do with sun, and heat, but yeah those pots don't help it, if in the sun, and stressed.

I dug a hole it put the pot in, last year, so the sun would not hit the pot Picture 148.jpg
