CXM 22 Gen 4 48v or 54v

hi everyone i want to make my own led, with some cpu heatsink and some leds from luminus :

For Vegetative cycle i want to use this
4 x CXM-22-35-80-54-AC40-F5-3

1 x HLG-185H-48B

and for flowering i want to add two more with his own supply:

2 x CXM-22-27-80-54-AC30-F4-3

1 x HLG-120H-48B

my supplier dont have gen4 in 2700k only 3500k, so i don know what is better, two gen3 2700k or two more gen 4 3500k for flowering ?

I need help with the power supply too, is better use 48v versions or 54v with gen 4 ? i want to run them at 50w and the 4 x 3500 build in the Vegetative stage dimming to half power, i don't know if this is a good choice, i aprecciate your help and ideas, thanks

The gen 4 are much higher lm/w at test current.
So if your choice is 3500k in gen 4 or 2700k in gen 3 then I would go gen 4 for all.

The 48v driver would be a better choice as its adjustable as long as you get the a or ab version, it provides a tad more wattage.
It is supposed to go to 187w but it might eek out a bit more.

You would be better running the 4 cobs on a meanwell xlg-200-h-ab since you will get 200w at least and its cheaper and smaller driver.

With the two cob set you could run a xlg 150-h-ab wired parallel or you could run a xlg-150-m-ab in series.

what about this one for the 4 cobs ?

It will work in series.
Don't think you can adjust the voltage on CC drivers.
All you need do it wire it series and turn up the current and you will get a bit over 50w a cob.
So it depends on what your aims are, since you wont get the full 240w out of that driver like you would with a CV driver

I would go with the XLG models if you can get them.

At max current of 1050 the fV will be 50-51v

Watch around 22:00 minute point in part4 of LEDGardener youtube series. All four videos are very good to understand drivers.

Been researching driving LED builds all week so not totally clueless I'd say you should use constant current voltage.


Personally I think you should save time and money and find air cooled MH/HPS.

thanks for the video very usefull info , im going to do the same proccess to my build, the idea of use hm and hps is good, but the electricity in my country is very expensive, so i want to use some leds this time, and the espace is not so tall so, led are a a bitter cooler i think

i check the web you post but the site dont have the gen4 in the list and cant see the xlg drivers, but for other type of leds or gen 3 look very accurate, thank you

thanks for the info, im going to buy both drivers you say,

xlg 150-h-ab and the xlg-200-h-ab with 6 x CXM-22-35-80-54-AC40-F5-3 and this holders LUMAWISE Z50 HOLDER 2828, i going to use them with cpu intel fans, maybe i make a tutorial and take some pics to do a cheap led, thanks for all the help
