Think man. At what distance is the the light cone a meter across? That is one good distance to calculate flux at. But, I am interested in another distance. Is that OK, with you?

How high is my usual plant? And I guarantee there is more to this plant than the canopy. So, I know that you are absolutely using yours at 3 feet, as well.

3 feet is at the bottom of a 4 footer where those Big, do not defoliate Leaves are.

So, what makes you think you only "use" LED at the top of the canopy, hmmmm? :)

I was just asking because you didn't elaborate when bicit asked, what was a solid question. I have not told you to anything with your build/idea, or even suggested a thing towards it. You seem to know all you need an I am just following along...is that OK? Seems to be the point of this thread if you are not wanting advice...to share your chosen path?

By the way, I had a heat sink help me thread recently, so I do ask, if I need it. And I got great help.

So, you wonder why do I discuss it here? Why do you wonder?

You all have said there are 100 ways to do this, so I wonder why you are challenging me.
Then I see. You want to help. That is very cool. But, I may go thru several iterations here. I may toss this idea all together, but it seems viable.

It is a new DIY Idea>!! There are such things. And frankly speaking some of the things you guys toss out are just plain wrong. So, again. Sorry.

BTW, there is a secret here to this design and I am sure some see it and some don't.
Call it, shit rolling up hill. :)

You guys are all nice, but I am one who can afford to push the limits. So, it is interesting all your help. And I have said all suggestion are welcome.

But, I don't need or care for comments, that border on personal. Not all are being just this side of abrasive.

Just watch if you want, challenge my assumptions, but what kind of designer wants "you'd be better off...?"

None. I am exploring Forced Air. How can you help?

IDK.......seems like a doucher to me

Thinking he's the first to come up with this led "cooltube" type design.......heliospectra LX comes to mind plus others

And now, since we have, perhaps, a viable idea we can to begin to refine it. And the main question is, what kind of air speeds can we get in this tube? And what is the optimal size and shape, to allow the smallest fan and largest flow.

Also, I need to look at laminar vs turbulent flow in air. I can make laminar flow with a stack of soda staws on the intake side.

So, RUI, tiny dick turd balls aside, this is not monstrous, it is a design that uses physics. It is light wieght and solves a lot of problems. Most all but, you trolls see that.

If youre shooting for everything on 1 heatsink. 24-30" x 5.886" should do the trick. Might as well throw them all on the same driver (hlg-185h-c700) which has 286v max. There are no beefy drivers out there for 3x 3590s @ 700ma that satisfy my OCD.

I'm running 4 CXA3590 on the same driver and they are the 77v.

Think he was just pointing out there are several actual companies out there that are actually doing this. The picture GG just posted of the long Apache panels is a prime example, almost identical to what skunk posted. I'd just look at those models and replicate. Keeping things on track. I'd say the smaller the passage the quicker the air exchange (=cooler)

Just take whatever size fan and size it around that.

Flawed physics based largely on incomplete data. Im not threatened at all. I just think its a foolish design that ignores a lot of collective data gathered from experience by many of us. I think you could get more out of the setup by distribution.

Im sure it will grow shit though. So keep on keeping on. Keep the insults to yourself though.

I think @Sativied sees that if you put this light on an angle with smaller plants at one end. you are using additional gifts of the universe.

BTW, you guys do use a drill press and a template for drilling and tapping your holes, don't you?
