cxa 3070 36V or 42V?

i have a CXA light setup with 2 cxa 3070's running on some ebay specials. that are about 80% efficient they run at ~39V 2.5 amps.

I want to replace them with a set of meanwell HLG 100H's but i dont know what voltage to get. Im not wanting to get the adjustable one . and I know that the cxa chips like around 38-39 volts. would running them at 42 volts cause damage?. or does the driver adjust voltage (d type)?

It can go both ways, but the version(A or B) will matter. The "B" version way is the better option IMO.

The 42v is what you need for the cxa's(and vero 29's...future upgrade possibly) to get constant current drive(most consistent light). The HLG 36v "B" versions have a pretty hard cap on 36v.
With the "A" version, you can get around that voltage cap and use the 36v, but will be running in constant voltage so there will be a slight fluctuation in drive current as conditions heat up.

should I drive them at 42 volts but with a B version? what model would you recommend. i have no training in electrical other than for automotive. do cxas prefer constant voltage over constant current? or vise versa?. the cxa set up i have now uses cpu coolers with 80mm fans driven at around 2100 rpm.. just for cooling reference then I have a 6 inch fan blowing directly on the drivers.

im a pc gamer and I build and over clock my own stuff. cob's seem to be kinda similar..i think that's why i like them..

are you looking at one driver per cob?
