curling leaves

i have a number of outdoor plants growing (same strain) that are all looking healthy, green, and are about 4' tall, however some of the new growth leaves are curling in a spiral, twisting, and bunching up.. they look sort of shriveled but are still green. Does anyone know what this problem could be? I thought it might be magnesium def. so i watered with epsom salts twice and havent noticed much change (hasn't got worse, but spiral new growth still persists) Any help out there?

If they are in containers you have outgrown them.

Can you give some more details about your grow-- soil medium, nutes, light cycle, etc. A nitrogen deficiency can lead to what is referred to as "the claw". Could also be under watered, root bound, heat stress and the list goes on. Some pics would help solve your problem much faster too. Good luck bud.

Sounds like heat stress also.

watering is not the issue.. i don't under or overwater... the temperatures have been high lately (high twenty to thirty degree celcius) so heat stress may be a cause, but i dont think its that either... they are all around 4' tall, in 5 gallon pales though.. should i transplant into bigger containers? could that be the cause?

I just transplanted a 3 foot plant out of a 5 gallon. It was starting to get root bound.

This picture is from a couple days after the transplant into a 7 or 8 gallon. Basically if your plant is much larger than this it is probably root bound.

if u vegged them indoors under 24hrs of light or even 18, the photoperiod change can stress them and cause them to grow in circles. my friend sex'd his crop by throwing them into 12/12, then when they went outdoors and reverted back to veg, they dropped down to one leaf and some leaves started growing in circles. perfectly healthy plants, just reverting back to veg, and the time change made them do it. hope that helps.
