Well the problem I had was with a plant that had little nuggets.. I hung the plant out to dry but the buds were almost completely dry in 2 1/2 days.. The paper bag can prolong the initial drying process.. But I ended up just putting them in jars at day 3 and the weed actually got its smell back about 8 days later. Atleast some of it.

I think that was my problem to, I didn't realize it because it was my first harvest and I took the lower "small" buds. But they did start to get there smell back like you said.

In my opinion one should start sampling by two weeks into cure. By the time you hit one month you should be hitting the smoke regularly and by two months cure you are at its peak taste/fragrance. After two months, imo again, it gets no better, and from then slowly starts to degrade. So I personally like to have smoked the stash within 3-4 months of cut. Sure you can put it into cold storage to prolong life, but I strongly feel that unless the buds are kept by themselves in that cold, the other items (usually food, etc.) odors end up being absorbed into the nuggets, distorting the flavor, and not in a good way.

Who told you it degreads?? Cannabis just increases with a better smoke. yea it reaches its peak.
but if stored properly, it will never degread. And if stored in to a cold enough of area, then it will degread.
And thats from experince. I used to always store my jars in 50 -60 degrees,but realized it makes it harsher, moister, and the trichs
strated dissapearing..?? i was like wtf. Iv stored some house kush, that my buddy grew for is local club.
he gave me most of the extra lower undevoped nugs. And since i had a decent amount from my harvest as it was.
i stored his shit in my safe with no burping lol, for well over a year, poped it like 2 months ago and shit was just as good as i remember.
From his original harvest. It even tasted exacly the same. And as of now i have the end of last years harvest still jared up.
still the same as last years smoke 4-5 weeks after curing. All i can say about properly curing is,
1. Start with dank seeds
2. get good nutes and grow equipment
3. grow to its window, do not pre maturlly harvest.
4. get good sealed GLASS jars.
5. clip all you mesh off the plant, ALL of it. your gonna make hash anyways

But these are my methods. and i havent had the hay smell since the last grow i had that smell on. Like 2 years ago

6. I hang dry for no amount of days, just till the very top of the stem where you hang it from, breaks but doesnt snap. (5-10 days)
7. I then clip and resize my buds, cutting all the way up the cola till its at its densest form.
8. I jar em up. based on popcorns, small buds and large buds. And colas too.
9. I usally have to burp over night 2 night in a row, then twice a day for the amount of time it take for me to smoke.
10. After about 2 1/2 - 3 weeks curing, I boil seal and perserve. Till the day i choose that, "thats my next jar of smoke"
11. no eleven, well smoke i guess. lol Like i said, steps 6-10 is MY PERSONAL FAVORED way of curing.
please no negative comments. It works for me, and iv even picked up top self buds, that didn even compare to mine.
Not just my opinun, all me and my friends. And 2 of my closest friends co op in growing for
the inlands green colective. So if your in Riverside. A lot of the buds out there iv smoked and touched, before anyone else. lol.
And watch em all grow up from clone and seed.

So this is really there way of drying to curing.
But it works great, and all my personal grows
smell and taste just as if i came home from the club.

Meh. That's just what I have heard. I am not saying that the potency degrades by a significant amount. And it is certainly store able in a dark container at room temp. for a year or more. Just that slowly, very slowly it is going to lose potency after it reaches its "peak," like you describe... so while it is not significantly important to smoke your stash within the 2-5 month window after cut, it is the best smoke at that window.

Yea all this i already know. I thought you were saying after 2-5 months there nothing left with it.
but atter 2 years id say though it all in some hash, cannabis should not exseed 2 years.
and storing it in a cooler area, anything under 50 degrees i found out resently, will freeze your trichs, and any
of the mildest disturbances, with knock em clean off. resulting in less potent, lower grade cannabis.
thats why i boil seal my jars, and never let them see the light of day till they see the flame.

i use a dehumidifier in a light sealed closet hang all the flowers and keep it at 40% rh for 1 week then bump it up to 25% for the last 2-3 days they r really dry outside when i put em in jars burp em once or twice a day the smell never goes away unless i dont dry long enough then i get the fresh cut grass smell...lol

not me, i dont know what reason for what, but i do know the chlorophyll is that smell.
and you have to burp em to git rid of it. my buds are dry on the outside and wet to the stem.

Nope, the same reason you should not store your herb in plastic bags!!!
plastic is Neg charged and Tricloms are positive charged, this is why your crystals are always attached to your baggie......

Thats a new one, haha lol. I just know of the fact there not sealed. weed just wont cure in it. idk about all the negativily charged trichs. thats hardcore information. And the trichs in the bags, shit breaks off the bud lol, its all over the sides of my jars too, are they charged with electricity as well?? im not sayin you wrong in any way. im not i promise. just never heard that one before. lol

grassy smell can be from being too leafy. try trimming as much sugar leaf as you can right after you cut your buds down from the plant. you wont lose a lot of weight, leaf is so light after its dry. keep that leaf though, it's much more potent than fan leaves. should even get you high than commercial would.

jar em and if they dont moisten back up then yea, rehadrate.
i use wet buds for 1 hour then it should be wet enough for the rest to share the humitity.
this is why i only hang dry for 3-5 days. i still want that moisture for a good burning smoke 2 weeks to come.

I agree on the static charge of plastic containers (Bags, Bins).
People look at me like ?static what? so a simple example is the trics stuck inside of your medication container.


But then still I have friends pulling down racks of buds and placing then into 55 gal plastic bags, as I type.

Lavender, prolly my favorite strain grown. very impressed, had the skunkyest hash smell ever. no purps in mine though.
all green with blue light purp trichs. soma seeds pick and mix lavender. 1 seed 16 bucks i think. clone her for your personal buds. iv realized lavender clones are topping there mothers but a good 5%. i post pics of the harvest. mothers buds vs clones buds. Gods Gift, intense fruity flavor. High yield Both are 7-9 weeks flower periods
