I assume you mean a doctor's recommendation. It would be helpful to know what part of the state you're in.

Doctors in California can not issue cultivation licenses. That is a scam. They can only issue an recommendation to use and an amount you can use per year. My doctors rec says I can use up to 32 ounces a year. Little known fact. In California if a doctor does not specify an expiration date your rec does not expire. Some doctors claim SB 420 says recommendations must be renewed yearly. Not true. SB 420 says county health dept. IDs must be renewed yearly

Curious about the difference between a scrip and a card. From what I understand, a scrip is only in the database that dispensaries check, but with a card you are in a county/state database. I don't want to be in any data base I don't need to be in. Is this correct?

ya if you go down to the county office and apply for the ID card and pay the fee, you are on their books. You don't need the card though. The reason most people get it is for added security. It lets the authorities know you're a recognized legal patient in your state and they can't mess with you. With your doctors letter, they can still arrest you take all of your herb and hold you until you are verified. That only happens when a cop wants to be a dick but we all know thats what many of the kind strive to be.

  • You are correct in stating that cultivation licenses are a scam. These should be avoided at all costs - specifically, see Dad's Letter, Federal Prison.
  • The California Medical Association (CMA) advises doctors to NOT put quantity amounts on their cannabis recommendations.
  • on expiration dates: the Medical Board of California requires that doctors review their patients recommendations and that this be documented at least once a year.
See Item #7 in the second set of numbered items.
  • On SB420 in general: it's pretty much all been thrown out in the courts - the limits are gone (though generally, they're good guidelines to follow), and the State Card is really just a waste of money because of the date flaw (it's issued for one year from when you apply for the card, not necessarily from when your doctor's recommendation is valid, therefore, the State ID Card doesn't indicate whether or not one is legal for medical marijuana usage - simply that at the time you applied for the card, you were legal. If I were a dispensary, I wouldn't accept the State ID card, I'd require seeing the valid physician's statement recommending marijuana.

Someone told me if you need hash, oils/extracts, that's the best way to raise your numbers.
It takes a lot of ladies to make a bit of hash or oil/extract!

PotPower,
Our attorney consistantly uses the argument that a patient may only be able to tolerate concentrates or edibles, and therefore needs more plants. The criminal justice system has absolutely ZERO say in what medicine you can tolerate, and/or how much of it you require. This argument works well...but only to a point. As our lawyer puts it, in the end, can you convince a jury that those 250 plants cooking under a 30K flip op were for your personal use? Probably not. Our collective has several members with 99 plant recs. But, our lawyer doesn't want us to grow anymore than 10 plants per patient. He considers this a "defendable" number.
