I made this using stuff i had laying around as a backup odor (or "odour" for the UK guys) control device. I got the idea from a High Times article, and people on this site. I did it a little different, so i wanted to post my variation of the bucket.
So larger growers might want to use a five gallon bucket, but i used a 2 gallon bucket to conserve on ONA.
I used a 4" inline fan blowing down a tube right onto the mixture. I put the holes farther up so it has time to mix before exiting the bucket. The pics pretty much explain it all. I put it on a timer, 30 min on, 30 min off.
I put the bucket by my front door area so that anybody (mail guy, pizza guy, cop, etc) who comes by wont smell anything. This thing really really works. ONA is the shit! Even if it doesnt smell like fresh linen, it doesnt smell like skunk. I think it really does "neutralize" instead of cover up.
The Mixture:
The original article called for "soil moist" crystals, and i couldn't find them. (probably out of season) I used another odor control product called "odor killer" that i found at a local grow shop. It already has the crystals in it. I mixed some of that, some water, and some ona into the bucket. Every 24-48 hours i take a spoon with a little more ONA gel on it, and stir it into the mix. Add water as necessary. It completely solved all my odor issues.
This wont replace the need for a carbon filter, but it really helps with the smells that escape upon opening the door, or whatever. And if placed near the front door to an apartment, or house, it just may save you.
Future plans include a filter for the top section, i was thinking about using furnace filters, and an inline Ona dispenser for after the carbon filter, before the outside.
