Crowding?

What is the problem with crowding plants in a tent? I recently was able to fit 4- 3 gallon pots in a 2.3ftx2.3ft tent and grew fine. I think 5 pots will fit.

Why is the science behind crowding the plants? A single plant is basically crowded when you look at each stem so why not fit all you can? Plants in the wild are often touching too.

Stuff the tent. Fk social distancing plants lol but this is 5 plants in a 3x5. You would probably wanna just 12/12 from seed with 5 in a small tent. (I have the same size)

4 of the 3 gallon pots in a 2.5 square foot tent would be fine. Agree with @HydroKid239 (I love the look of that canopy) - 5 plants should be OK as long as you are not doing any wide LST techniques like a manifold.

Overcrowding a tent has the potential to disrupt the air movement within the grow area. Disrupted air movement can lead to less than stellar growing conditions or give you (GASP!) little fuzzy surprises late in flower.

I've seen some crazy sog grows in tents with dozens of small pots. There are reasons to do it...pheno hunting comes to mind first and foremost, but in terms of yield you can pretty much do with 1 plant what you can with more in the same space, it just comes down to # of bud sites you've crammed into a footprint. More plants = more watering, higher RH, etc too. For quality, packing your colas together really reduces how good the bud is below the very top of the canopy, so expect more larf when you pack them too. A crammed canopy also encourages disease, which can be dealt with to a large degree with defoliation. I'm a notorious canopy packer, but now I'd like to try to get away from that a bit.
