Cropping/Topping Question

I was planning on topping off my indica plant when it reached it's sixth node. Well, I had to go away for a few days and now the lady is at the eighth node and ready to keep growing.

Is it too late to cut it back? If not, should I cut back to the third node (as I have read others do) or do I need to cut a little higher? Thanks

It is fine to top her still...... as far as some people topping at the third node, they may be mainlining it (also known as manifolding) but either way you should have a plan of attack once you cut her.

It's fine to top now. Personally I would just remove the top node and when it branches out, top again and so on. It's not too late until the fat lady sings your you are ready to flower.

Not quite sure what you mean by "plan of attack"- my goal is to keep the plant from growing over 5 feet in height, not produce multiple colas (though I know that will be a result)

I mean you will want to know if your going to use a super cropping or lst or fiming or if you are going to continue to pinch all the new growth. Several top colas are what most of us strive for. Good luck hon

It's alright to top as late as you need to, until they start to flower. When I'm growing in the big woods and plants need to get tall to get better sun, I will wait to top until they are 4-5 feet. Others I top at 6-9 nodes.

Here is one of my youngsters from this morning. I had topped her a few weeks back and hadn't had time to LOB {Lean Over Baby} her.

Ganja Gurl UR THE BEST!! I was not familiar with lst, fim, mainline, super crop, etc- so I did some additional research & found a great tutorial site (http://www.growweedeasy.com) that covers all of those techniques. I might be too late with my big indica but I have two other plants that are at the right point for mainlining. I have been wanting to mainline plants for a couple of years but did not what to call it or how to do it so thanks again for the inspiration and advice.

I went ahead and topped my indica plant today:

Before: 9 nodes high


After: Cut at the seventh node

I am going to try and clone the top

I top at the 3-4 node and top and pinch often and get lots beter yealds that way and cage them so they hold up them big buds in the fall.ky

Looking good. Are you going to pull the two main tops apart? That will make it bushier.

I've pulled the main tops apart, the plant is bushing out nicely.

UNFORTUNATELY- I think I saw the beginnings of pollen sacs being formed on the plants when I was feeding it yesterday. I looked again today- maybe it is just new growth but I don't know (actually, I think I do know...)

I started mainlining my Snow plant today- it was at six nodes, I topped at the 3rd node and cut back the lower leaves. My Pineapple Train Wreck is also at six nodes but is little puny so I am waiting a few days before starting to mainline it. I also transplanted each plant into 10 gallon soft pots today. I will update soon.

Depending on how a particular strain reacts I will top multiple times in May and June. Then around mid July I FIM all of my tops and that generally makes the plant canopy explode.
