Cree cob question ..... Is 100w / ft overkill ?

tekdc im running 4 x 72V CXA3590 @ 0.7ma using the driver provided above, all wired to one driver. I thought you were looking for a driver for those 5 COBs you mentioned before. My first setup is 200w of 5000k cxa3590. Very good for vegging, however if you want to save money go straight for 3000k, the more cobs the better. Aim for a Diy 400w cree cxa/cxb panel using a meanwell driver.... Don't go looking for any other driver or COBs. Stick with Cree CXA/CXB or Veros. I think the 185-C700B maximum voltage is at 286V, adding 72 x 4 = 288V. However, I have checked with the multimeter and it stays at 286V. So it fixes itself.

one of the hlg-185H-c will run 5 vero 3070 or 4 vero3070 depending on the amperage, its not a turkey, and IS one of the best solutions, yet
you ask for other options :) maybe use your brain a little before surrending to HPS ?
Thanks for clearing that for me, thought I posted up wrong info to the man.

lol im wanting to push just one chip at a time .... i dont want a big idiotic waste of space " panel " i want individually driven remote lights , dimming option would be a plus ( which is why i didnt want to go with the $11 1.4 amp meanwell's) ...... and these are the cxa3070's

my grow tent never gets above 90F as far as the bulbs themselves id say not to hot I can still touch the heatsink even if the lights are running 24/7 ..lets just say. way the fuck cooler than an HPS at the same wattage..

if you want like a "core" temp for the bulb itself I wouldn't know. supraSPL might though. he is the one who built it. I just came up with the idea..

I would say its well under the heat limits for the chip though.

ya i was just wondering how warm the heat sink was .... i was reading a bit of supra threads on another forum over the last couple days ..... tryin to get schooled

it gets as warm as...the inside of a vagina.. its a nice pleasant warm. wont burn your hands...well after running a week straight on a hot day.. it might get to the point where its almost too hot to touch..t if your room is fairly warm to begin with. id put a clip fan near it and having it face the heat sinks. just in case

HAHA!! ;))) Is that what we all should aim for, "inside of a vagina" temperature?!;)))

I'm really wanting to be able to seal and stealth out my grow right now I'm a bit leary of sealing it up with a hps running even in a hood

Hey tekdc, here my one two plants under the 200W CXA3590 WWXBB. Two seeds pop on the 3rd of May. A whole month the plants were veg under 4 x 25w cfl something like that long. The plants has only been under this LED light for about 2-3weeks already. Can't really tell you the results, as it was veg using CFL at the start. But I'll clone my mother plants, and judge the growth rate from there instead from seeds.

I popped two at the same time, from the same seed company. However, one of the WWXBB, is growing bigger than the one next to it. Maybe because of how i placed them in the RW media. The big plant seems to have grown its roots properly and through the net pot, however the one next to it, the roots kinda grew around the RW media inside the net pot. Last time i had a look its root system, it was balled up inside of the RW center.

I just received two clones of something of a mate. He wanted me to save it for him, still showing signs of life, but the roots & RW media that it is in looks dried out. Give it at week inside the aero system and it should fix the problem. I can't wait to see the scale of the growth from now to week or two.

Supra agrees that the 50s are more efficient than the 100s. Both are still good, but I live in a hot place so I need to lower the temp as much as possible. Saves on ac bill and theoretically, will help with the lifespan of the bulb. The chips are supposed to last tons of hours so it might not matter to some people. My first build was a 100watt and it was good, but I knew I could do much better so kept building. 50s are my preference but 100s are ok for some. Doing a fun bar of 5 10w, to angle down on a side to see if helps increase yield.

Sorry, if you've said it and I didn't see but are these CXB3590s or something else? And what is their efficiency powered at 105W?

Edit: Can you tell me the specs of the fans?
they are 3070's and efficiency i think is like 30% or somewhere around that.. don't quote me on that. supraSPL would know way better. in fact he made a chart for all or most cobs and what is what for each power input. i wish they would sticky it

where I live heat really is not an issue, i mean i can't do A dwc unless it has ZHO and aqua shield at all times .. but in the summer at night it gets down to 30 or 40F so when i run my lights(night time) it doesn't seem to get hot enough to bother the plants

Arctic 64's are super cheap and work great on my Vero 29's. Lots of people use the 11's too they were too much when I bought mine.

Nice fire waiting to happen Holyghost. All of your threads make much more sense now.

If your nighttime temperatures seriously touch 40f every night, even in the summer, then you live high in the mountains. Good for you! Now, use a water pump and a radiator or two and build yourself a passive chiller!

A small system would chill an RDWC, no problem. A big one would actively cool a grow op of any size you want because you're just heating the great outdoors, lol
