Creating your own blue light

I was wondering if anyone had used lighting gels or some form of color alteration when it comes to lighting. Im currently running a 150 HPS and was thinking of getting a blue lighting gell and keeping it far enough away from the light (however the heat isnt that bad) to turn it into blue light and hopefully help the plants through Veg even more. Any suggestions, comments, what have you?

The gel wouldn't convert any of the light to blue it would just filter everything that wasn't blue. You would be drastically reducing the intensity of your lighting, I would recommend just sticking with what you have, HPS isn't as good as MH for veg but that doesn't mean that it's not good!

HPS is working fine my plants in veg, though they are a little bit stretched (which is intentional)... The blue gel is going to filter out a lot of the lumens your light is producing, and is going to kill off valuable light that you pay for...
