Hello all, hoping some experts can weight in here. A coworker picked up a light on Amazon for $70 and seems to be having decent results considering what he spent. I'm thinking to get the same light just to start out, or maybe just veg, but I'm still worried its complete garbage. would love to hear some thoughts on this...

That thing looks like a brick lol. It’s only 85w so it will really only cover a 1.5x2 area for flower.

What size space are you trying to cover and what is your overall budget?

I would try to go for something with Samsung diodes and a Meanwell/Inventronics driver.

Actual 85W power draw but is comparable to commonly "called" 300W or 600W LED Growing Lamps.
So it can replace a blurple or bootleg ebay light. I would pass on it.
Another $20 cad you can get a spider farmer with 100w draw, and better hardware.
It's got a lot of red spectrum, it may be a half way decent side light, but there are better for the price.

【Uniform Light】Perfect for 2.5x2.5ft grow area, and 4 units recommended for 2x4ft or 3x3ft grow tent.
This makes no sense. If 1 is good got 2.5x2.5 then why 4 in a 2x4? Should be 2.
Abort mission.. whoever bought it. ABORT lol

So it is about a buck a watt, I picked up 12W (5000k) bulbs at a dollar store ($1.25 CND) you need to add a fixture to it and some wire. The fixture is more than the bulb, eventually came up with my own solution, but say another $2. A piece of plywood or old fence boards to screw it to. When you move on and get better lights you can use the bulbs in your home.

@HydroKid239 are you talking about this light? Price is not bad... is it that much better?

Just to provide some more info, I have a sun room i plan to flower in, it doesn't get the best sunlight so I want to add a light to ensure its getting enough, for $70 i can put 1 over each of the 4 plants i can grow. Might even get 2 for vegging in the basement...

What I would like to get are 4 of these.

As for my buddy using the light right now, he picked it up quick to finish off some autos he had outside too late, but I'm surprised with the trich production on it.

Yes, that's the one. Those HLG boards are pretty sweet too.
You need more light tho. You got that one spot in the middle getting light, but the other parts pf the tent aren't getting much at all.

It's more like 50-cents a watt if you're buying USD: https://www.amazon.com/Aceple-Waterproof-Gardening-Houseplant-Flowering/dp/B07VRNBLTR
