Could it be burn from water droplets?

Hi RIU peeps:)
I'm 3 1/2 weeks into bud and can't quite figure this issue out. This is my second crop and I'm growing purple Kush.

They are under (1) 1000W HPS and I recently added a 200W CFL to allow for blue spectrum light.
They are in sunshine mix #3 soil, containing peat. I've mixed it half and half with perlite.
I do a feed, feed, water cycle
Humidity is around 45%, temp 23C range.
I have been careful with PH and the plants in 7.5 gal pots.

The leaves on my tallest plants only, started to show sign of cal/mag deficiency about one week ago.
I added cal/mag to the water and also sprayed the foliage with Epsom Salt to over come the problem.

I have read two schools of thought on spraying with Epsom Salt. One says spray with lights on to avoid mould, the other says, lights off or the water droplets will be magnified and burn your plants. I chose to spray with lights on and use a very fine mist.

I'm thinking I have either burned my plants or I'm over watering them. Funny thing is that I had the same exact thing happen with my first crop. I still managed to harvest 15oz from nine plants with just the one 1000W light.
Both times the problem seems to start with my plants that have stretched a little while still in veg, I'm not sure if this is a factor or not.
Any wisdom to share?100_0238.jpg100_0241.jpg100_0236.jpg100_0242.jpg100_0244.jpg I appreciate any input, thanks.

What is your heat like? click on my first grow in my sig and look at how my plants looked, pretty much exactly like that and im pretty sure it was from having way too much heat throughout the entire grow

Thanks BBVC, yes my plants look just the same as yours did, I appreciate your input. I will try cooling my room down to 20-21 C. I usually run around 24 C. Very nice first grow BTW, and I'm in Canada too:)

well nevermind then 24° is a good temp to run, mine were waaay too hot, like 31°c. Maybe its nute burn or the medium, I used a soil less medium with peat perlite and vermiculite as well on that grow

ALSO sorry for being a dumbass lol i reread your original post and realized you already told us what temp youre running at

You sprayed saltwater on your plants? Misting is for clones only not for spraying saltwater on plants under a 1000w. Feed water feed water. I cant see close enough to tell what's wrong with the not quite so messed up leaves but i would say flush em clean. Re ph down to 6.6ish so its not a lockout

Are you sure you're from canada? your profile says venus lo andl that grow was a bit of a disaster. I had never grown anything before really, let alone inside, but I did learn a lot and so far my second grow has been going much better

I took a chance on some nutes that were new out and made locally. I also thought that could be a concern. I think I'm going to not use them again. I haven't looked too much into other mediums to grow other than the soil I've been using. Is there much of an advantage to something like you use?

Thanks lordR, when you put it that way...yes, spraying salt water on leaves under a 1000W light is a dumb ass thing to do! DAMN ME lol. my third crop is already in veg, I won't make that mistake again. I think there is still hope for this one too, I appreciate your comment.

Yes bye', part Newfie, all Canadian eh! I hoped not to repeat my mistakes from my first crop but it's looken like I had to learn it twice.

HPS has more than enough to take you all the way through even if it is just a bit more to the flowering side, if you plan on having a veg area and flower area though I would reccomend a dual arc 400w for the veg

Thanks, I do have a separate room set up for my vegging plants. With the plants I have in flower right now, pictured in this thread, I used four 200W CFL, for nine plants. It's a long narrow room (3' x 12') and I had three lights on one side and one on the other. The plants stretched out a bit on the side with the three lights, it might have gotten a little hot for them...and those are the plants now with the curled leaves. I went down to two lights on that side this time thinking it was overkill. I'll check out the dual arc 400 W next, I'm hoping to redesign some things soon. Thanks again

Just water under 1000 watts will do that. Sunburned they are...... but see the leaves yellowed and spotted, This is the result of too much magnesium, my guess is from folliar feeding with epson salt, wow never occured to me someone might even think of doing this, Folliar feeding is super sensitive, you would never do it with anything stronger than a weak hydro solution, deluted to 1/8th or less, anything more and "vwalla" burned to a crisp, very chem tasting plants, Ya cant flush what you put directly into the plant. Once it's there its there. Unlike, flushing away excess salts, as well as chem nutes, that havn't yet been picked up by the plants vascular system. Peace
P.S M/h is the thing to try to bloom and veg with, vegging with hps is pretty counter productive. It blooms well with this but for a 1 light scenerio I'd consider m/h and bloom with it teamed with red led t5s.

Yeah, I'm kicking myself...I still have so much to learn:) I did the foliate feeding on the advice I had read at some point on here, lol, gonna have to do my homework and research a little more next time before I willy nilly do something like that again. It's all good, I'm just gonna chalk it up to experience. I used 1/3 a tea spoon of Epson Salt in 1L water...so I hope that won't effect the taste too much.

No.

Do plants burn when the Sun comes out after it rains? No.

Does your 1000W bulb put out more light than the Sun? No.
