Are you planning on using a 250 for that grow? Also what strain you thinking about?

Your pics just convinced me! I've been going back and forth about this mini fridge idea and that the grow would be a waste of time. You showed me otherwise. thanks.

I've been looking at these 2 setups:

here's the little one:

And here's the sweet one:

I like the fact that i could use HPS in a tiny space. I really didnt want to go with a total CFL system. And I'm not the builder/electronics type of guy, so I'm limited in "build-your-own" capacity. I have some auto flowering seeds already...just need a stealthy rig. I like that you also showed me that a soil setup will work if hydro proves difficult for me.

thanks for taking the time to start a journal. I appreciate it. I may bug you with some questions if I go with the fridge.

Another thing guys......If you are looking for a really stealth grow. A mini-fridge may not be the best thing. It gets so hot that I need to leave the door open. If its shut, temps will hit about 100 F. Its fine when the light goes out. You can shut the door and it looks stealth. Other than that it doesnt really suit its purpose.

that's the main reason i'm looking to a working fridge. I'm not really familiar with where the coolant coils are. if I were to start drilling/cutting holes in the sides and top i may have a mess on my hands.

I'm also wondering if its possible to hook up a different thermostat to the fridge and have it kick on when needed. I'm sure it's possible because it already has a t-stat in it...it would just need one that could be dialed into a zone of 68-85 or so. i'm going to poke around the internet for some help on this. if anyone knows i would appreciate the link(s).

sorry to jack the thread....i'm anxiously awaiting the pics from the end of your dark cycle.

No worries about jacking the thread. Its open for any type of dialouge.

I never considered a working fridge. The one Im use isnt functional as a fridge. I'm curious to see how that works out for you. My one concern is how much condensation the AC would give off. Blowing any amount of water onto a hot lamp will kill the bulb. I would imagine that a glass screened lamp of some sort may solve that problem.

Look on you tube, this dude has a video called the fridgenator and he uses the fridge for stealth and too contol the temp by setting the thermostat in the fridge to his desired temp. I believe he even turns it down further during flowering to promote vivid colors throughout the bud.
