Which is why we are the pro's, and you....the noob! They matter son, those little ctlydon's are the energy and food that the little seedlings need to grow the first few weeks. If you still have cotlydon's...you have flowered too early. Stick to smoking it, not growing it if you think that!!!!

we can let homegrown boy start this thread without even wanting too..

THanks for his support I have started a thread.

Do the cotyledons have any impact on flowering status?

I would suspect there are various reasons cotyledons may or may not fall off a plant.

Any real life answers???

I have read that if the cotyledons are still on the plant, then your plant is still considered a "seedling"... Which I like to think of as prepubescent in human terms... I'd wait until she's legal before making her grow some buds. :)

I've flowered plants at 12" that were sexed and grew to be almost 4 feet.. on a couple of them the cotyldons were still there. I just assume they were still there because I gave them plenty of nutes, therefore there was no reason for the plant to "eat" them up.. I ended up trimming the bottom half of the plants so it was useless anyways, SOG all the way! :)

I've also had plants that lost them within the first week, but I do beleive that was a Cal/Mag deficiency.. have never had that problem again after I fixed it.

Well, if you think you're good then that's all that matters. It's your grow :)
you are very correct! thanks for the goodness.

That could have been the problem because I couldn't get any seed starting soil so I started them in this MG organic soil that I used last time for my flowering ladies. By the way I think MG soil is fine (stuff in green bag), but the MG organic stuff for some reason is shit. It was really a combo of the dirt, temps, and it really needed some cal/mag nutes. The dirt coulda locked out the calcium and thats why everything was dying off. That was a shitty coupla weeks. :(

i'm noticing on my young plant the cotyledons are starting to brown. they are almost a month old.

i would be willing to bet at this age they are going to be fine.

life is always interesting.

thanks for everyones opinion on the issue.

I had a 2+ foot plant with a 1/2inch plus stalk and they were still there and green/health with preflowers..
Don't think it was a seedling.
