well, Im trying to come out with a decentally nice and undetectable (obviousally) Grow room. Im getting my own apartment in the upcommon months and i was wondering how much the initial set up would be?

Heres what im thinking

2 1000 watt MH light bulbs
2 1000 Watt HPS light bulbs
20 light of jah seeds
20 5 gallon buckets ( any other ideas?)
Soil (Fox farm? Any suggestions?)
Some Fans
and some plant nutriants

I have a $1000 dollar budget and i need to know basically what will give me the highest yeild the first harvest

Anyone? It can be over $1000, Im just looking for an initial set-up that could be improved after the first harvest.

It's going to be hard to answer such a question. Perhaps you spend the next 2 months researching, with a little bit of leg work, you should be able to resolve everything you are asking above.

So this apartment will be yours (as in you will own this? (renting does not count as owning juuust to clarify)

I ask this because if your renting then you might be subjected to a "surprise" inspection (written 24 hour notice required where i live)

But still 24 hours isnt a whole lotta time to make ur op disappear...

and it sounds like you are planning to go big...which means expensive

So your budget is like $1000 for everything...what about your power bill for the next 5 months can you handle a $400 bill every month? On top of whatever other expenses you have..car insurance, cell bill, cable bill, emergency funds for the

"fuck why did this have to happen now fund"

so in other words i think you should hit the paper n pad and just start crunching numbers because your $1000 budget doesnt include alot of expenses.

To be completely honest, with what you want to use... you're going to be well over 1k. The lights you have listed alone, will be over 1k. You'll need separate ballasts or interchangeable ballasts. If I were you, I would check out Roseman and Purpl's DWC or Bubbleponic Ideas. You could use CFL's instead of MH or HPS to save some cash, you could build your own cfl fixtures from some of the ideas on here. You might be better off getting a few buckets, air pumps, air rocks, etc. to do a little DIY DWC. Especially if you're going to have that many plants. You could save some cash on nutes by buying in gallons rather than buying bags of soil. Just do some research on here, you'll be able to figure it out. Hope that helps you narrow down some ideas.

Um, since you're posting here, you obviously have access to the Internet, so lookup how much those things are.

We're not your secretary.

For future reference, people are much more apt to help people who actually show some initiative.

Sorry if that comes off as rude, but sometimes the truth hurts.

Buy everything used from Craigslist.com
I am sure you can come up with something.
in the beginning you will probably have to hand water your plants untill you can afford automation.
Also for big yeilds you will need C02 and an airtight room
this become harder to cool properly but a 10,000 btu air conditioner should do the trick.

Settin up a grow op is not an easy thing, i have $3,000 for mine and i havent even bought my light yet and i have been planning for a month and a half. DONT RUSH then u make mistakes and that will get u cought!! Slow down and do some planning and research before u spend any of your money cause plans dont always work out and u might have to change your initial setup.

Cosign on that.

Research my grow extensively and have still switched several things out numerous times.

Hey bro,

I am in a similar situation as you except I am buying a house, not renting an apartment. Well anyways, I have been planning for about a month now, and have put together a fairly good list of equipment needed and the expected cost of the equipment. I did do alot of research on the prices so they should be somewhat accurate. Hopefully this helps you out a little bit. And remember this setup is, what i believe, the best setup for my grow space, living area, funds, etc. etc. Yours might be different.

And I forgot to mention... I priced everything out as new equipment and probably to the most expensive it could be, so if you can buy things used and for alot cheaper, you could end up saving over $1,000. Ok im. See you later, talk to you later, bye.

I have enough money to last me the following months including the cost of actual living expenses as well as the grow set-up. I didn't mean to come off as asking yall to be my secretarys (sorry) I just wanted to hear some advice from people that have more experience in this field.

Like some of the other people said, growing in apartments is not a good idea, unless you know what you are doing. You have to remember that these plants STINK.

A rule of thumb for indoor growing, the further the neighbors, the better. For research purposes, grow 1 plant in soil and CFLs in the room that you wanna grow in. Do a 12/12 from seed.

Lets say you do spend this $1000 on equipment and materials, what happens when you fail. Unless you are experienced, high yield is not an option. IMHO, I wouldnt go big just yet. Grow small, save money, move out, rent a house and then do your thing. Not even the Hulk is born with a green thumb. People dont get lucky and get a high yield. These guys on here make it look so easy, but what you dont know is how much experience they do have.

would a carbon filter not take care of this? I have considered starting with a smaller amount of plants and such for more experience, I have grown outdoors before but from what ive read it seems to be alott more difficult growing indoors.

Good info +rep =p

I havent done a big enough project to give advice on that. I dont have an issue with the smell because I do small grows and odor is not an issue. Thanks for the +rep.

Indoor, you have a lot of factors. Heat, humidity, light, electricity, air flow, etc. Outdoor, you have to watch out for insect pests, human pests and soil conditions.

Living in an apartment, you cant just go drilling holes in you walls. So you vent through a window right? Usually, apartment windows are set up in a way that anyone from the street can see your window (unless you live on the 20th floor). So you have to hide your exhaust ducting in a way that its not obvious.

Next is ambient light. You need to cover your windows so that your flowering cycle does get messed up. Plus this keeps eyes off your grow. So drapes between your window and your plywood will make it look less bait.

Now you can see already what kind of setbacks you have if you want to grow in an apartment. If you grow in a basement, same principles, less hassle. Drill through exterior walls and possibility of taping into the grid (I advise against this, dangerous and illegal)
