correct "slip knot" type to build a SCROG screen?

i started building a pair of screens out of wooden frames with wood screws with hoop ends inside the screens, to prevent any painful bumping. i couldn't get nice tight strings though just tying a regular knot around the hoops. the knots would loosen when i tried to make a second knot to secure each string making for a flimsy loose net. i'm sure there's some type of sailor's knot made to be tightened and put tension on a line without losing slack before securing it, but any guides to knots i've seen online only show you how to make them, and their names, not what their purpose is. someone here has to have been a boy scout, or is into bondage or something and knows their knots. what type of knot should i be using to pull each string tight before double knotting it for permanence?

Google "truckers hitch" this will let you get them as tight as you want them. Hollar if you are having any troubles M8.

Peace and Tight Lines( no pun intended...lol)

PS: Grab a quick view of a half hitch as well, will come in very handy to secure the tag end of the line.

OK, that's the info i needed then. thanks a bunch. i just didn't want to waste a bunch of time trying to figure out 20 different knots before finding the one i needed the hard way. i like doing things the easy way, namely asking someone who already knows the correct answer.

will look it up, learn it, and use it. by the time i get all 100 or so ends tightened, i'll have it memorized for life. thanks and plus rep, quick answer at that too!

holy crap that's a complex knot! isn't there a simpler one with just a couple crosses? that thing's like cat's cradle! i don't need to hoist a ton, just keep the string from relaxing until i can double knot it. there's got to be a simpler knot that does the same thing.

OK, i guess there's more than one type of trucker's hitch then. i tried to post the 1st pic i saw that was like a puzzle, but it wouldn't link and then i found this variation which looks more like what i was looking for.

Glad to help M8. Yes, the second one is the exact one I was speaking of.

if you know the clove hitch, just put 2-3 wraps on 1 side and the usual 1 on other. we use to pull cable, but will slip when pushed by hand...peace

Just save yourself the time and effort and buy a roll of plastic garden mesh. It is what, a couple of pounds for about 5 square meters of the stuff.
