Correct me?

I am about to harvest for the first time and I would REALLY like it if you guys could tell me if everything I am saying is correct.
Step 1: Cut plant at bottom of stem
Step 2: Cut individual branches
Step 3: Hang in cardboard box then check if stem feels dry but is able to bend without breaking (every day)
Step 4: After the stem is able to do what I said cut individual branches for extra leaves/trim and save for hash
Step 5: Put in air-tight jar then burp once a day for 2 hours until they are able to stay in the jar without any moisture building up
Step 6: Smoke/distribute.

personally,

Step 3: I trim all the fan leaves that have stems longer than 1" or aren't located near a bud site. I use an old PC Case, and cut out the HDD/CD rails, put a fan for airflow, and covered most holes with cardboard, leaving enough airflow so the fan doesn't bog...just a reg sized PC fan rigged to an AC adapter...running prob half speed.

Step 4: I wait until the small fan/sugar leaves are slightly crunchy, but the stems don't break when bent (about 3 days in my box)

Step 5: Cure in jars. Open about 15 min once or twice daily for a few days, then I switch to burping once daily after buds start to stiffen up and feel somewhat dry, but just a hair moister than I prefer to smoke.

Turns out great.

I'd like to avoid using fans, I have heard bad things about them.

Go for it. You'll find variations on your method but it is still sound and if I might add...buy a caliber 3 hygrometer and throw it in the jar and watch the RH. The numbers don't lie.

I'll try real hard to get one, this sounds like a good idea.

I'm not going to use a hygrometer my first time. I'd like to be in the profit zone before I spend anymore money for my grow.

Yea fans can be bad I covered mine so the fan isn't blowing directly on the weed but make sure you have plenty of airflow to prevent mold and help draw moisture away

Pistils have receded greatly, it is time to harvest! I have a few questions I'd like answered before though, (I'm harvesting tonight.) Should I hang the whole plant or cut individual buds, (look at my plant in my signature has no branches basically.) Also, do you recommend I trim the fan leaves before hanging? or trim the fan leaves and all the smaller leaves? or not trim anything before hanging?
