Corporate fascism

If you believe fascism doesn't exist in the United States, think about informing your
boss you have persuaded a group of people at your firm into joining or starting a
"Union."

~~~
We do not fear remote and unlikely challenges; we fear immediate and real threats.
We fear the term fascism because it exists very close to the surface of America's skin. We
are wise to be afraid. We are unwise to ignore the subject.
Corporatism
, or corporate fascism, is the American form of this disease. It has thrived here
unchallenged for several decades. And it has rewritten our language of social discourse at
the same time it has taken half the wealth of this nation and concentrated it in the hands of a
few.
~~~

Becoming a Democracy is no panacea for the potential ills of self governance. Tyranny of
the majority can come in many forms, and one of them is corporate fascism.

Among the most dangerous states in modern history were two Democracies, Italy and
Germany. Both chose, by democratic means, the leaders of their respective political parties
and nations -- and then terrorized the world. Both nations, civilized and Christian and
modern, lost their way.

History teaches us that in times of perceived crisis, even citizens of good will can choose
badly, and then be unable to turn back.

The warning signs around us are clear and abundant -- a rising nationalism that approaches
jingoism; an open and aggressive anti-liberal sentiment that labels dissent un-American and
castigates moderates as traitors; a disregard for international opinion and even international
law; misuse of the military in poorly-justified (and potentially unending) wars; a desire to
change the Constitution and other instruments of governance in order to disenfranchise
various left-wing (not right-wing) minorities; and the use of symbols like "freedom" and
"democracy building" to justify misinformation, war, and the actual trammeling of freedom and
civil rights (the very foundations of democracies).

As a nation, we are on dangerous ground.

Med the problem with your Socialist view is that 99% of Americans are against that kind of society (including myself). Where did I get the 99% number? I pulled it out of my ass.... but I'm betting it's pretty accurate.

The United States is a Republic. Our government isn't the best... but I believe it's the best (excluding the current moron in chief) on the planet. I'd stand up and fight against anyone who tried to change that.

Our form of government is the best. The problem is the type of people we've elected. Unfortunately carving the rot, mold and worms from the apple will leave the core.

Not that just having the core would be a bad thing in the case of our government. 1 President, 100 Senators, 800, 1,700 or 10,034 Representatives (depending on how many you want.), 7 Supreme Court Justices.

Then there'd be 1 Governor, however many State Legislators, and however many state judges in each State.

And on down to the county and municipal level. Put a moratorium on government expansion for a decade, and use the taxes to pay off the national debt. (The IRS isn't really that necessary) Then once the National Debt is paid off lower taxes, and re-issue the freeze for another 10 years. After that see what people want their government to do, or not to do, and abide by it...

Of course after 20 years of independence, liberty and freedom I don't think any one would want to return to chains, slavery and involuntary servitude.

There are 9 Supreme Court Justices. Beyond that I didn't get the gist of your post.... my apologies.... I'm a bit high ;)
Just spinning off of yours.

Essentially saying that government should be cut to nothing and all the tax revenues used to bail out our country. Once that's done we can worry about government of any kind.

The problem is: It's the peter principle. Let peter do it. The facts always turn any society into one dominated by the few. There are just people that want to have more than anyone else and they end up in charge.
Then you have what we have now, fascism, where the rich run the show for benefit of the rich. I doubt if pure communism will ever work barring the second coming.

If men were angels there'd be no need for government...

Of course if men were Angels there'd be no need for a Hell or an Earth either...

What was that you said about putting words in people's mouths?

And I think this'll be the tenth time I've said that when people want charity they are more than welcome to ask, but as long as they aren't willing to ask me to my face, instead of relying upon the government to coerce me then they shouldn't get shit.

Even then it'd probably be a hand up, not a hand out. Charity shouldn't be something you rely upon all your life, or even longer than a year or two. It should be something you use to get back up, after you've fallen all the way to the bottom.

So, when the 3 factories in your town and most towns around you have shut down, there are no jobs to be had, the rich are telling you to fuck off, what would you suggest? Keep in mind there are thousands just like you. Should these people just starve? You see, when times were good for the workers, as in the 90s, I could see telling people that they were just fucking lazy assholes. What do you tell them now? Forget your American lifestyle, learn to live in tents and eat like a chinaman, for there are no jobs and we, the elites do not do charity or welfare. That's not the America I love, that's the fascist piece of crap the Bush legacy has left us. I suppose you may approve of this, eh?

Well, thanks miss, just pointing out the fallacy of charity taking care of all our problems. The fascist on site seem to think we could do away with all social programs and charity would cover the chaos. Charity was what covered the poor before unions, then the workers got a foothold in the sharing of the wealth. Now the fascist want to take it all back.

Hey, Med ... With the new federal tax laws going into effect on January 1, along with all the increased tax proposals in California, the combined tax rate for the top tier of California earners will be over 50% of their income. If the new state hike in sales tax takes effect, Los Angeles County will be hit with a 10.5% sales tax. The only thing holding anyone here is the protection afforded by Prop. 13 to save what's left of housing. A business person, no matter what the nature of the business, can't turn sideways here without running into a new regulation, tax and/or an increased paperwork load mandated by some do nothing government agency.

The State of California and most cities are run entirely by the Democrat Party. Wanna talk about fascism any further?
