I would agree that such an encounter might leave an officer with feelings of unresolve however they have no authority to act exclusively on their emotions. With nothing more than a "gut feeling" provided by your deliberate attempt to protect your rights, any action taken against you would be subject to extreme scrutiny and would likely lead to the dismissal of any charges you are brought to bare.
Keep in mind the 911 thing.. they can provide you with that bit of information (or lack there of) that could help indicate to you if a sunny disposition and flowery vocabulary is more appropriate... Not to mention that there are criminals out there that pose as officers to facilitate their crimes..
By the way, I didn't make that flow chart up myself (doubt I got it correct word for word) I have seen it on laminated business card sized things (with other statements/questions like asking "Are you currently or ever been affiliated with law enforcement?" to identify undercover cops or nullify anything they see/hear after that point)
