Cops/dogs at the airport

Wtf do those cops do all day? I was hiding a 1/8th behind my sack and I walked within 15 feet of the cops dog(shittin bricks)...anyway...the cop was just standing there talking. So I got to thinking do airport cops stand around all day waiting for the dog to catch a scent? That would be boring.
