I'm currently using a 4" fan to cool a 400 watt bulb in a 3'x3'x6' tent. I've had to try many different set-ups to get the temperature right. First I tried carbon filter to fan, fan to duct, duct to hood. Simply scrubbing the air in the tent. Worked well for a couple of weeks, then it started getting to warm. I now run duct work from outside of the tent to the fan, fan to duct, duct to hood, hood to duct, duct to carbon filter. Temp is now back down to around 78 degrees. If you're in a larger area than me, you should be fine.

A 4 inch will keep it cool but I would spend the extra $10-$20 bucks and get the 6 inch 435 CFM from eBay.
I have a Valuline 6 inch 435 CFM in a 4x3x6 cab and it stays between 77-82 normally.
Paid $100 for the fan and made the filter for $40
