Cooled Lights

Technical questions:
1) If my "cool tube" light is ventilated with cool air, can I let my plants grow closer to them?
2) Is having white buckets for a flood or aero system subject to too much exposure of roots to light?

Hey broncks4,

The limiting factor with distance of light is usually temp. So if you're cooling it down with cool air and exhausting it out then you'll be able to get it closer than you would without those two things. They say you can give too much light and it'll bleach it. I've never experienced this, so I can't speak. But the sun puts out a lot of light too

With the white bucket, as long as the material of the bucket doesn't light through, you'll be fine.

Hope that helped. :eyesmoke:

Thank you, Psychedelic Breakfast. The buckets are definately NOT dark inside. I have the means to remedy this if I need to.

Yah, most people wrap the white buckets with something
Have trouble finding a black horticulture bucket or what?

Go to Lowe's and get their 5 gallon buckets. They are already silver so they can reflect a little light back and they are completely opaque. 4 bucks for the bucket and lid.

Thanx. I've since taken the initial steps to remedy the situation. In case anybody cares, affordablebuckets.com has 4 gallon, square, black pails w/lid for $3.55/per
