A fan will help keep the temps lower- if there isn't air movement the tube will eventually heat up and cause the temp in the grow area to rise. A small 6 inch inline fan will set you back $25 from htg supply and that will move enough air to help keep the temps down. Also, keep in mind that higher temps will shorter the life of the bulb and increase the chance of a short popping up.

051.jpgI was going to put my 6" inline duct fan on the end with the light then connect my ducting to that and just leave the other end open. Will this be sufficient or should I do something else?

eBay. It was $250 and came with a timer, hanging kit, hps and mh lamp

the fan is slowed a lot even when you put your hand in front of it so I thought it might be better to put on the end with the light maybe I should put one on both ends thats would make the second one move faster but it seemed kinda excessive. Maybe I Could put the fan at the end of the ducting outside the grow tent.

My bad- props to liberty. I thought he said he was pushing the air through and that is the correct way to do it. You want fresh air blowing directly on the back of the socket and pushing air through the duct.

I'm just setting up but I have to go to htg supply and get 6" ducting but wanted to know how to do it. So I should have it on the end with the light with the ducting on the opposite end? If I do it that way I'll probably need a second inline fan on the other end of the light or at the end of the ducting wouldn't I?

I have the output of a 6 inch inline fan running over the socket and 6 inch ducting connected to the hole at the other end of my hood, venting the warm air outside of the grow area. Since it is only a 3 foot run, you shouldn't have to get a second fan. So, looking at the picture you posted earlier, put the fan on the right hand side, and put the ducting on the left hand side. A/C folk will tell you to get a 6 inch clamp to secure it, but duct tape works just as well. BTW- the ducting can be purchased at a local hardware store for pretty cheap, just tell them you have to replace a high temperature dryer duct and they should be able to set you up. Hope that helps.
