Converting Security HPS light to Grow light

I read in the FAQ about the DYI conversion of a security light to a grow light.

He said you would need to take out the motion sensor because most security lights have motion sensors or wtv.

I saw in Home depot the other day a HPS security light that had no motion sensor. Does this mean i can jsut straight up use the security light for my grow room? Or is there additional rewiring i have to do?

THanks.

that's the one i'd be looking at.

If i can just use it striaght up, why would i need a remote ballast, or wtv it is called? I"m sorry, but i am very new to HPS or any HID lighting.
yes that light can work. it looks like it has a photo eye on the top to make the light come on after dark. the photo eye can be bypassed or removed easly. you can also make it remote. if you need help with it let me know.

does a 150 watt HPS system with integrated balllast need extensive cooling? Like, how;s the heat output compared to like 250+ watts of 26watt CFLs.

so you have (10) 26w cfl's????

150 watts per lamp = 511 btu/hr
26watts per lamp = 88 btu/hr
