controlling day and night temps with ac?

Does anyone have any advice on controlling day/night temps with a window ac? I'm going to add co2 to my room and use a sentinel controller. My lights will be on a sealed venting system which will not take air out or into the room. Does anybody know of a good window ac that can be programed for different day/night temps, that doesnt draw air out of the room and is somewhat quiet. I'm thinking I would like to run my day temps at about 85-90 and my night temps at 70. Any other suggestions or advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

:blsmoke:I'm in the same boat with having a small window ac that's new, but not very strong for an average sized room, say 12 by 13 feet. The 5000 btu size is small and cheap, but it did not get that 12x13x8 room cooler than 62 degrees. The inside house temp was 64! the outside temps were about 65.

Back to your question. Some units have a 24 hour timer like mine, but I have never used it for a grow yet.

I would say the best way to control night temps would be to keep that baby on auto and keep it running at a respectable temp. The problem that arises is that my unit needed to be set at cooler temp like 73 to allow the small tent I was experimenting with to keep the daytime temps at around 82 with a 400 watt air cooled light with 16 sq ft. :weed:

Having the ac set at 73 might be ok, but what if the ac coupled with the average temp in my bedroom being 64 in early March might end up being too cold. So you might have to change the temp on the ac each night? Maybe also employ a small heater working on a thermostat.

Some other threads might help you with wiring a thermostat to a heater or an ac for that matter.

Yeah I guess I could adjust the temp every day/night but I was hoping to set my room up to pretty much keep the enviroment automatically controlled including changing the day/night temps by 15deg or so. I could run my ac off of the chhc-1 sentinell controller but 2 problems...1-I dont think most ac's will come on when power is cut and turned back on (I'm pretty sure this is how the chhc-1 would control the ac, correct me if I'm wrong) being that most ac's are all digital, and 2- I believe the chhc-1 is only rated for 15amps which might overload the chhc-1 controller with my fans, co2regulater, etc also plugged into the unit, again not sure if I'm correct about this either. If I could find a quality ac that could be programmed for different temps on a timer my problem would be solved, but I've not had any luck as of yet on that. Any more suggestions out there?
